BCC is a registered, national non-profit charity dedicated to saving lives through breast cancer research by raising money to fund patient-focused research for the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of breast cancer.
Key Position Objectives:
The Events Coordinator plays a pivotal vital role in supporting and expanding Breast Cancer Canada’s national events portfolio. This role will focus on engaging communities across Canada, managing logistics for fundraising events, and collaborating with volunteers, partners, and stakeholders to ensure the success of grassroots and national events, including the annual Walk-a-ThontoMother’s Day, the MEGABike for Breast Cancer, and various third-party fundraising events. The ideal candidate is passionate about event planning, fundraising, and community engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Event Coordination & Execution
Support the planning, coordination, and execution of community-based and national fundraising events, with a primary focus on the 2025 Walk-a-Thon, MEGABike for Breast Cancer, and other annual initiatives.
Manage event logistics, including venue coordination.
Develop and distribute event toolkits and resources for community-led initiatives and third-party fundraisers.
Work with marketing and communications teams to promote events through digital, social, and traditional media.
Coordinate event-related sponsorship fulfillment and recognition, in partnership with BCC’s Stewardship Manager.
Track and manage event budgets, ensuring financial accountability.
Community & Volunteer Engagement
Work in collaboration with BCC’s Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and activate event volunteers, providing training and support.
Develop strategies to engage and steward community fundraisers, third-party event organizers, and volunteers.
Establish and support relationships with corporate partners, sponsors, and local businesses to enhance event participation and engagement.
Ensure a seamless experience for participants, donors, and community partners by providing excellent customer service.
Fundraising & Outreach
Work closely with the development team to maximize fundraising potential for all community-led events, including third-party fundraising initiatives.
Assist in securing sponsorships and in-kind donations for events.
Develop and support peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives to increase donor engagement.
Support post-event follow-ups, including donor acknowledgments and impact reporting.
Data & Reporting
Maintain accurate records of event participation, fundraising totals, and key performance indicators.
Provide reports and insights to the Vice President to assess event success and areas for improvement.
Ensure compliance with donor stewardship policies and CRA charitable fundraising regulations.
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Event Planning, Fundraising, Non-Profit Management, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
2+ years of experience in event planning, fundraising, or volunteer coordination, preferably in a non-profit or charitable sector.
Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Experience working with volunteers and community engagement initiatives.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and event management software (e.g., Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or similar CRM tools).
Knowledge of peer-to-peer fundraising platforms is an asset.
Ability to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for events.
Willingness to travel within Canada as needed.
