About the Opportunity 

Guided by a strengths-based, inclusive, anti-racist, anti-oppressive approach that supports self-determination, the Sr Officer, Indigenous Programs and Partnerships works closely with Indigenous partners and communities across Canada to support the delivery and impact of partner-led programs.

This unique role ensures that Indigenous programs are implemented effectively and aligned with Kinvia’s operational and strategic goals. The position supports program monitoring and reporting with 25 Indigenous partners across Canada.

Reporting to the Director, Indigenous Programs and Partnerships, you will assist partners in program design and implementation based on their priorities, monitor qualitative and quantitative results, coordinate documents and agreements, ensure compliance, and provide general project support within Kinvia.

Key Responsibilities: 

• Support the implementation of community-led projects with Indigenous partners across Canada, including annual planning, budgeting, and tracking results.
• Build strong relationships with partners, offering ongoing support in program delivery, financial management, and compliance with Kinvia and donor policies.
• Review partner financial and narrative reports, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and alignment with funding agreements.
• Collaborate with the Programs team to provide programmatic, financial, and community development support.
• Maintain accurate data and documentation, including internal tracking tools, reporting templates, and partner files.
• Assist with gathering stories, photos, and other materials to highlight community impact, following Kinvia guidelines and best practices.
• Lead the development and coordination of the Indigenous Partner Sharing Network, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange.
• Monitor project implementation against plans and budgets, identifying potential risks or challenges and supporting partners in finding solutions.
• Contribute to the design, implementation, and evaluation of partner-led programs, particularly in support of major and institutional funding proposals.
• Provide administrative support such as preparing proposals, reports, presentations, and internal documentation.
• Travel to partner communities as required.
• Support an inclusive, collaborative team culture and take on other duties as assigned.
  
  

Qualifications:

• Relevant experience in project administration (4-6 years of experience in administration and with Indigenous Nations and communities in Canada, preferably in food security and food sovereignty).
• Proven ability to work with community members and provide administrative support to projects, communicate effectively with partners, monitor progress, manage budgets and expenses, provide accurate and timely reporting on results.
• Proven ability to work in a relational way with Indigenous Nations and communities and understand the importance of community-led development.  Ability to speak an Indigenous language is an asset.
• Strong and proactive problem-solving skills, able to identify challenges or bottlenecks and proactively propose potential solutions to improve how the organization functions.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills – electronic filing of project documents, multiple versions of documents, signed agreements, etc.
• Commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Anti-Racism and Decolonization.
• Experience with digital tools, including an ability to work with Microsoft Office 365 and prepare and complete basic financial reports and budgets/reports in Excel.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to act as a team player and provide a high level of service to internal and external customers.

• Ready to work additional and flexible hours as required along with travel to other Kinvia locations.
