ABOUT THE ROLE
Join CANDORA as a Summer Programs Events Coordinator and play a vital role in organizing and coordinating community activities that foster family engagement and support. In collaboration with the Summer Programs Events Organizer, you will help facilitate key family events, including coordinating transportation, assisting with registration, and ensuring the smooth operation of field trips and events. You will also spearhead the planning and coordination of Family Fun Day, ensuring it is engaging, inclusive, and reflective of the community’s diversity. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that requires strong organizational and teamwork skills, offering a valuable opportunity to gain experience in event coordination, participant engagement, and community outreach.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work collaboratively with the Summer Programs Events Organizer to help facilitate group activities for families, children, youth, parents, caregivers, and community members, particularly those from newcomer, Indigenous, and 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
  • Spearhead the planning and execution of Family Fun Day, collaborating with the Summer Programs Events Organizer to ensure the event is engaging, inclusive, and reflective of the community’s diversity, while ensuring all activities run smoothly and are well-executed.
  • Coordinate community field trips, managing participant registration, transportation logistics, and supervising activities to ensure the safety and well-being of all participants. Actively engage in field trip activities to ensure that children and caregivers are supported, involved, and enjoying the experience.
  • Support the Summer Preschool Program by assisting the preschool team with activities, providing hands-on support, and helping with lunch preparation for participants.
  • Perform administrative tasks, including maintaining sign-up sheets for events, field trips, and tracking participation numbers.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas to continuously improve the programs and activities offered.
  • Other duties as assigned to support the success of CANDORA’s summer programs.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

  • Knowledge or experience in community development or working with children and families is considered an asset.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and other digital applications.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups and participants.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to the vision, mission, values, and beliefs of CANDORA.
  • Understanding of professional boundaries and ethics in a community service context.
  • Successful completion of a Police Security Check and Child Welfare Check is required.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
To be eligible for this position, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number and be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Not be an immediate family member of an employee of CANDORA.

Employment type: Temporary position will end after 8-week term

Hours of work: Monday – Friday (8:30 am – 4:00 pm) 35 hours per week

Expected Start Date: June 16, 2025

Wage: $15.00/hour
