About Lakeshore Arts
Lakeshore Arts is a not-for-profit community arts organization that is dedicated to engaging the local community of South Etobicoke through a variety of art forms as a way of enriching people’s lives and strengthening communities. We believe community arts contribute to the holistic health of a community, and offer unique and innovative opportunities to engage in positive social change by connecting people to the arts. The successful applicant will contribute to the delivery of Lakeshore Arts’ marketing plan in support of our community arts programs, as well as outreach events and artist opportunities. They will also assist with cataloguing visual documentation, and participant testimonials, in support of LSA’s annual Impact Report. They will receive mentorship from the Marketing and Communications Manager during weekly meetings, where goal setting, sharing of educational or professional development resources, and other support will be provided.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities for the Marketing Assistant will include: creating, editing and delivering content across all online platforms, as well as print materials, in collaboration with the programming team.. They will create and provide creative input into the design and feel of marketing assets under the guidance of the Marketing and Communications Manager. This includes copywriting, graphics, creating short videos (reels) for outreach events and programs, and capturing photos and/or video for off-site events. The Marketing Assistant will help to enhance our outreach methods and maintain LSA’s community connections.
Administrative duties will include maintaining an outreach database and marketing calendar; and assist in the management of LSA’s social media accounts (e.g. Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn) with exceptional customer service; assist in tracking and reporting on analytics,conduct market research, and support with drafting LSA’s annual report. The Marketing Assistant will also attend weekly all-staff meetings and work in collaboration with team members to complete outreach, documentation, and evaluation tasks.
Qualifications
Be 15 to 30 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada.
Some education or professional experiences in a related discipline (social media, marketing, event management, project management, etc.).
Familiarity with or a passion for arts and culture.
A strong understanding of equity, diversity and inclusion frameworks, and a willingness to learn more.
Ability to organize workflow, multitask and meet deadlines under minimal supervision.
Strong organizational skills.
Experience in collaborative work settings, ability to adapt and learn new skills.
Strong communications skills, including speaking, reading, writing, and copywriting.
Previous social media experience and competency in Canva.
Knowledge or experience with WordPress websites is an asset.
Experience with photography and video creation for social media (reels) is an asset.
Proficiency in Mac operating systems and G-Suite.
Experience with newsletters using Mailchimp is considered an asset, but not required.
Ability to work from home (access to a stable internet connection), as well as onsite at our Community Project Space.

Please note, our office is on a second story walk-up that isn’t wheelchair accessible or may be difficult for those with mobility limitations. Although this position will be hybrid, including both remote work and in-office work, as well as opportunities to work in the community on our events planned with partner organizations.
LSA is located in Etobicoke/Adobigok (Place of the Alders in the Ojibwe language). This territory was subject of the Dish With One Spoon Wampum Belt Covenant and we are grateful to have the opportunity to live and work in this territory alongside many Indigenous people from across Turtle Island.
