Robert McClure United Church is seeking a full-time worker who will be responsible for gardening, yard maintenance and general labour around the church property.  Duties include watering, weeding, cutting grass, keeping outside property clean, picking up litter, planting, trimming trees, weeding communal garden spaces and community garden beds, mulch redistributing, refill water barrels, painting, general building maintenance, repair and maintenance of mechanical equipment such as riding lawn mower, help set-up and take down of tables and chairs for Food Pantry, community events, weddings, and funerals.  We require someone reliable, organized, able to work independently, physically capable of lifting, bending, carrying heavy objects, requires some Saturday shifts.  Likes working outdoors.

 

Entry level skills in lawn maintenance, gardening, painting, lawn mower and other garden tools upkeep and repairs and other required technical skills an asset but not necessary.

 

This is an opportunity to learn as you work: learn about plants, gardening, and painting; learn to welcome all, practice radical inclusion of newcomers, refugees, 2SLGBTQI+, and indigenous people at all aspects of the church; will learn organizational skills. Creativity and problem-solving will be a learned skill with the support of the supervisor.

This is a Canada Summer Jobs Position. 

 

Target start date:  May 20, 2025

Contract duration: 8 weeks @ 35 hours/week

Hourly rate: $18.50/hour
