Applications are currently being accepted for a full-time (35-hours/week), time-limited (to December 12 2025) Youth Employment Training Specialist in our Youth Employment Skills and Strategy (YESS) project.

 

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills and will provide superior customer service, highly developed problem solving and organization skills to fulfill the following responsibilities:

•       Develop and implement the training program

•       Responsible for all aspects of training, including screening youth pre- and post-training, hosting the training sessions, connecting youth with external training courses and leading youth through workplace training

•       Identify training courses and certification for participants

•       Organize weekly training and develop comprehensive training curriculum

•       Provide group and individual support and assistance to job search clients, such as resume writing, interview techniques etc.

•       Outreach to new and existing employers to identify employment opportunities

•       Perform outreach activities to and liaise with schools and community referral sources to stimulate client referrals

•       Assist in the planning and execution of hiring events, special events and community presentations

•       Support job placement activities by placing clients in jobs that are appropriate to their employment goal

•       Assist in scheduling, preparing for and facilitating job search workshops and community presentations utilizing a variety of multimedia tools

•       Maintain client and employer files according to the established Employment Ontario and management information systems and procedures, while adhering to privacy and confidentiality requirements.

•       Liaise with employers to create employment opportunities for participants

•       Set-up interviews between employers and participants

•       Provide coaching to participants during work experience

•       Mediate any issues between the employer and participants

•       Monitor all placements, oversee training plan development and conduct on-going follow-up to ensure successful employment outcomes for program participants

•       Work with job seekers to develop and implement their career paths

•       Visit and maintain contact with potential and registered employers

•       Work collaboratively and effectively with all members of the programs

•       Provide employers with training and information as necessary

•       Develop training plan with the employer and the client and finalize placement agreement and contract 

•       Provide statistical and incident information to manager for monthly and quarterly reports

•       Participate in team meetings and provide input and ideas for improving services

•       Work collaboratively and effectively with all members of the programs

•       Other relevant duties as assigned, for Team or Agency

 

Key Qualifications:                       

•       Degree/diploma in Employment/Career Counselling or post-secondary education in social service/human services field

•       Certification in career development, or in progress

•       Three (3) years paid, related experience in job development, employer outreach employment counselling and/or recruitment

•       Previous experience working with youth is an asset

•       Knowledge of the current Labour Market, Employer Expectations, Health and Safety, Crisis Intervention and First Aid Certifications is an asset

•       Thorough understanding of labor market information and trends

•       Experience with group facilitation/public speaking with good decision-making, judgement and problem-solving skills

•       Proficiency in MS Word, Excel and Outlook, Open Office, various web browsers, Internet networks, on-line employment tools

•       Ability to develop and perform presentations

•       Demonstrated efforts to continuously update skills

•       As there may be a work-from-home component to this job, the ability to work from home, consisting of a safe and private home office setting and the necessary technical equipment and high-speed Internet access for remote work

•       Familiarity with virtual work platforms

•       Superior written and oral command of the English language

•       A valid Ontario Driver’s License and regular access to a vehicle

•       Knowledge and experience with internationally trained professionals and sector-specific employers is a strong asset

•       Strong organizational, planning and time management skills

•       Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team

•       Capable of handling a wide variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment

•       Flexibility to work in various locations throughout Peel, and the ability to work days/evenings/week-ends, as required

•       Vulnerable Sector Police Check

•       Additional language(s) an asset
