Job Summary:

Reporting to the Goodwill@Work Manager, the Mission Program Supervisor is responsible for coordinating and supervising the day-to-day needs and activities of Goodwill’s mission programs and microsocial enterprises. The intent of these mission programs is to provide internal employment and volunteer opportunities to people with disabilities. The supervisor will lead, coach and direct team members in daily activities, including but not limited to, product manufacturing, assembly, restoration, sorting and storing of material orders to safely and efficiently meet the needs of our commercial customers, retail stores, and other departments.

The Mission Program Supervisor leads by example and demonstrates excellent customer service with friendly, positive and helpful interactions. They are well-versed in Goodwill’s mission and able to accurately explain the importance of Goodwill’s mission programs within the overall organization. The Mission Program Supervisor will participate in leadership development activities.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supervising the day-to-day activities and delivery within all relevant work areas.
    • Driving team members from a central meeting point to assigned locations.
    • Communicating routes and job tasks to team members.
    • Supporting the team to complete deliveries, on foot within the community.
  • Overseeing program organization and inventory.
  • Ensuring all customer deliveries have been checked for quality assurance before delivery.
  • Assisting the Goodwill@WORK Program Manager with the team member recruitment process.
  • Developing team member schedules based on delivery requirements and tracking team member hours per activity.
  • Submitting and approving team member timecards as needed.
  • Setting training programs with team members and monitoring progress.
  • Assisting the Goodwill@WORK Program Manager in team member coaching opportunities and performance management.
  • Training team members on how to perform all aspects of a particular job including any documentation required.
  • Supporting team members to meet delivery targets and developing improvement strategies for team members who are not meeting targets.
  • Reporting to the Goodwill@WORK Program Manager on the training process of new team members.
  • Identifying training gaps and creating plans to correct these gaps.
  • Ensuring delivery activities are adhering to project budget.
  • Coordinating shipping and receiving with third-party logistics partners and the warehouse transportation team.
  • Tracking and logging team's hours and project expenses, as required.
  • Accurately completing month end reporting.
  • Using computer software to track delivery progress and other relevant data.
  • Communicating with the customer regarding project status and developments.
  • Working in a multi-functional environment and may at any time be asked to move to assist in other areas or to perform functions outside of their regular duties.
  • Participating in any training or meeting functions as requested by Goodwill.

Requirements:

  • A valid Class 5, non-GDL, driver’s license and be able to provide a clean driver’s abstract.
  • 18 years of age or older.
  • Must pass a criminal record check including a vulnerable sector check.
  • Must be eligible to work in Canada.
  • Must be able to regularly lift up to 12 Kilograms (25 Pounds) and perform physical work, including walking, on a continual basis.

    What you bring to the table:

    • Minimum one (1) years related supervisory experience, supervising personnel and directing work flow.
    • Related post-secondary education, this includes but is not limited to social work, business administration, education, trades. Equivalent experience will be considered.
    • First Aid and CPR certification is an asset.
    • Courteous and able to work in a culturally diverse working environment.
    • Friendly with a professional appearance and demeanour.
    • Able to comfortably communicate with team members, customers and other members of the public about Goodwill and its mission.
    • Sound decision-making skills with good business sense and demonstrated initiative.
    • Effective time management skills as well as strong organizational skills.
    • Proven ability to lead, model and deliver service excellence.
    • Strong computer skills, with knowledge of automated time card entry an asset.
    • Able to influence empower and motivate others and hold team members accountable for the completion of assigned tasks.
    • Able to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.

      Working Conditions:

      • Working with a diverse team in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
      • Mission Program Supervisors are required to stand and walk for long periods of time, lift and carry heavy objects frequently.
      • and be comfortable with continual interaction with the public. There is exposure to dust, allergens and exhaust fumes. Evening and weekend work may sometimes be required.
      • Working outdoors year-round in all conditions (e.g. heat, rain, snow, etc.)
