Position Summary: The Executive Director (ED) is accountable to the Board of Directors for ensuring that Opportunity Place fulfills its mission and objectives. The ED provides strategic leadership, oversees operations, manages funding contracts, and ensures high-quality employment services for job seekers and employers.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Governance:

  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Board of Directors and staff.
  • Develop and implement strategic and operational plans.
  • Ensure policies and procedures align with the organization’s goals and funding requirements. Support Board governance, including agenda preparation, meeting facilitation, and reporting.

Operational & Financial Management:

  • Plan, direct, and coordinate the daily operations of Opportunity Place.
  • Oversee financial management, including budgeting, financial reporting, and risk management. Ensure compliance with funding agreements and government regulations.
  • Prepare funding proposals and grant applications to secure financial sustainability.

Human Resources & Team Leadership:

  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff to foster a high-performing team.
  • Develop policies and programs to enhance staff development and workplace culture.
  • Ensure a work environment that reflects diversity, inclusion, and equity principles.

Community & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Represent Opportunity Place in external relationships with government agencies, funders, employers, and community organizations.
  • Foster partnerships that enhance the delivery of employment services.
  • Develop and implement communication strategies to raise awareness of Opportunity Place’s services.

Program Development & Evaluation:

  • Oversee the planning, implementation, and evaluation of employment services and programs.
  • Ensure continuous improvement in service delivery, client support, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting in compliance with contractual obligations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • At least 3 years of proven experience in managerial or executive roles
  • Proven leadership experience in a non-profit organization; experience in Employment Services an asset
  • Strong knowledge of employment and career development services, programs, and interventions.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, funding contracts, and financial reporting.
  • Experience in policy development, risk management, and human resource management.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to engage diverse stakeholders.
  • Commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity in the workplace.
  • Adept at program evaluation and strategic planning.
  • Proficiency in technology and data management for business operations.

Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and satisfactory Criminal Record / Vulnerable Sector Check
