Position Summary

The Outreach Manager is responsible for the recruitment, training, and engagement of Campus Food
Bank (CFB) volunteers. This role works closely with all staff to make sure programs and events are
supported by volunteers. The core CFB events and food drives are coordinated by the Outreach manager.
Volunteers represent the first point of contact for many community members, partner organizations, and
stakeholders. A significant part of this role will be making sure that CFB vision and values are reflected
in various forms of engagement both directly and indirectly through volunteer training.

Responsibilities

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT

● Leading the volunteer recruitment process. This includes marketing volunteer
opportunities and facilitating screening and selection processes.
● Leading and conducting training sessions for both new volunteers and returning
volunteers.
● Updating and reviewing volunteer training materials.
● Managing the active roster of volunteers and ensuring volunteers meet
commitments.
● Conducting activities to foster a positive volunteer culture, including volunteer
appreciation initiatives and events.
● Provide support and guidance to volunteers.

EVENT MANAGEMENT

● Lead the coordination and implementation of established events and food drives.
● Development of new events in accordance with CFB mission and values
● Build and maintain positive relationships with student groups across campus in
order to raise the profile of the Campus Food Bank and increase participation in
CFB events.

OTHER DUTIES AS REQUIRED

● Assisting with the daily running of the Campus Food Bank Office, including:
○ Office administration and correspondence;
○ Picking up food/supplies in the Edmonton area as needed;
○ Coverage for other roles when colleagues or volunteers are away;
○ Completing special projects as assigned by the Executive Director; and
○ Updating standard operating procedures.

Skills & Experience

● Volunteer coordination, group facilitation, and presentation experience
● Volunteer and/or client support/social service experience (with Campus Food Bank
specifically is an asset)
● Event management and support
● Technology experience (Capable in Google Suite and CRMs/ERPs)
● Strong communication and language skills
● Organization skills
● Cultural competency training is an asset
● Experience in non-profit, food banking, volunteering and/or other support service
work

Qualifications & Education

● Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
○ (Familiarity with UofA community an asset)
● Class 5 Driver's license with [clean] abstract
● Standard First Aid (or willingness to get)
● Food Safety Training (or willingness to get)

Working Conditions

● Job Type: One year Contract
● Job Locations: Campus Food Bank Offices, 1-81 Students’ Union Building, U of A
● Hours: 35 hours per week (evenings and weekends as required)
● Salary: $48,000 to $60,000 dependent on experience
● Benefits: Health, dental, vision, monthly phone stipend
