McMan Youth, Family and Community Services Association is looking for a detail-oriented and motivated Accountant to join our Finance team. What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Senior Accountant, the Accountant is responsible for managing the full cycle of accounting processes, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger reconciliations, journal entries, and financial reporting. This position ensures accurate and timely financial transactions, supports audits and alignment, and contributes to financial analysis and continuous improvement. The role acts as a key resource within the Finance team, supporting internal controls, financial clarity, and collaborative initiatives across departments.
Key areas of focus will include:
Accurately process vendor invoices, staff reimbursements, and payments, ensuring proper coding, documentation, and adherence to internal policies.
Maintain organized, auditable financial records and perform reconciliations for credit cards, bank accounts, and general ledger accounts.
Generate and issue program invoices, monitor accounts receivable, and follow up on outstanding balances to support effective cash flow.
Prepare and post journal entries for accruals and adjustments, contributing to timely and accurate financial reporting.
Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets and income statements.
Support financial analysis by identifying variances and collaborating with program teams to enhance reporting accuracy.
Contribute to annual audit readiness through documentation preparation and prompt response to auditor inquiries.
Ensure alignment with organizational policies, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process enhancements and supporting system upgrades and documentation.
Collaborate on finance-related projects and support administrative tasks such as insurance renewals and asset tracking.
What you bring:
Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (required).
3+ years of experience in full-cycle accounting, including payables, receivables, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Enrollment in or progression toward a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation is considered an asset.
Proficiency in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central and advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, with the ability to adapt quickly to new systems.
Experience working with ERP platforms; familiarity with Sage or comparable systems is considered an asset.
Previous experience in the non-profit sector or a mission-driven organization is highly desirable and valued.
Solid understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal control practices.
Experienced in financial reporting, audit preparation, and documenting processes to support consistency and improvement.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and recommend solutions.
High emotional intelligence and a collaborative, empathetic approach to working with teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
Commitment to delivering high-quality service and building strong internal and external relationships.

Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and ability to travel to program sites (preferred)
