Job Summary:

The Group Facilitator prepares for and facilitates in-person group parenting sessions. Group sessions explore parenting and assist participants in developing skills in a variety of areas. The Group Facilitator conducts in-home visits to further engage parents in the program, including gathering expected outcomes, and responding to any concerns. This position works collaboratively with a team using a non-adversarial, non-confrontational, cooperative approach to completing tasks.

Your Role:

Archway’s Group Facilitator with the Family Education Program contributes by:

•       Facilitating in-person group sessions according to Family Education Program curriculum.

•       Arranging for session space and preparing materials for group sessions.

•       Coaching clients on developing and using newly learnt parenting skills.

•       Maintaining the referral and intake processes, as well attendance forms and documentation.

•       Preparing reports.

This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys facilitating groups, is a good coach, understands family dynamics, early childhood development, and healthy parenting styles.

Our Offer

•       Wage: $27.00 - $28.50 per hour

•       A part time position at 20 hours per week, weekdays with flexibility in the hours; and Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm to 8:30pm

Getting an Interview – you will be considered if you have:

•       A Diploma or Degree in Social Work, Social Services, Communications, Psychology, Child and Youth Care, Adult Education, Education, or a related field.

•       Experience in group or family work.

•       Experience providing in-person group facilitation (experience with online group facilitation

•       an asset).

•       Computer skills and experience using online platforms, particularly Microsoft Teams.

•       Knowledge of coaching, conflict resolution, and behavioural modelling skills.

•       Familiarity with Punjabi language and culture is an asset.

 

The Job Requires you to have:

•       A thorough knowledge of family dynamics, early childhood development and healthy parenting styles.

•       Strong verbal, written, and active listening skills; able to communicate effectively and respectfully with people from different backgrounds and experiences.

•       Strong coaching, conflict resolution, and behavioural modelling skills.

•       Strong organizational and time management skills; able to balance and manage competing projects and priorities.

•       Ability for direct, in-person contact with on-site staff and clients; adherence to health and safety protocols is required.

•       Valid Class 4 BC Driver’s License, with a satisfactory driver’s record.

•       The use of a personal vehicle in which to drive for program-related driving, which must be insured according to Archway’s transportation policy. 

•       Emergency First Aid certificate with CPR level C is a condition of employment.

•       A satisfactory criminal records check is a condition of employment.

•       Availability to work during the day and some evenings.

•       Familiarity with Punjabi language and culture is an asset.
