Avenue Road Music and Performance Academy, a Registered Charity, seeks a skilled Finance and Administration Manager, with experience in the Arts sector, to join its dynamic management team. This pivotal role involves overseeing the efficient operations and financial record-keeping of the Academy, and contributing to its strategic growth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bookkeeping and finance, operational/premises management, website programming, social media, and Arts-sector performance or teaching. www.avenueroadmusic.com

Responsibilities

• Develop an informed budget forecast, analyze financial performance, and recommend strategies to achieve financial targets

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable, with use of My Music Staff software

• Oversee the maintenance of a secure, well-operating, iconic building, hiring and supervising contractors where necessary

• Support the Heads of Music and Dance and the Director of Community Programs and Fundraising, by organizing events, overseeing receptions and supervising student-walkovers from Brown School next door

• Program changes to the Academy’s website for registrations, donations, and announcements, and maintain and track the effectiveness of social media accounts.

Experience and Personal Qualities

  • Proven experience in an operations and finance role
  • Knowledge of cost management, budgeting, and administration of a contract staff payroll
  • Proficiency in managing accounts payable and accounts receivable processes
  • Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions
  • Knowledge of physical operating systems for a building
  • Experience in performance or teaching in the Performing Arts sector
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving; passion to succeed
  • Experience with donor or arts event management

  • Hands-on facility with Quickbooks software
  • Live within 10 km of the Academy or have a car to drive to work
  • Experience in the Arts sector
  • Canadian citizenship or Permanent Residency
  • Flexibility to sometimes trade-off day-time hours with an evening or weekend shift
  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree an asset
