About Us:

Centre to Empower All Survivors of Exploitation (CEASE) & Trafficking is an Edmonton-based charity committed to empowering survivors of sexual exploitation and sex trafficking. We support individuals in rebuilding their lives through one-to-one support in the community, victim assistance through the courts, paying for fees to go back to school, and financial management. We work in cooperation with community, government, and law enforcement to help sexually exploited and trafficked persons heal and renew their lives.

About the Role:

The Community Outreach Worker is responsible for the overall administration and coordination of services to women who are creating pathways out of sexual exploitation. This position requires the ability to work 37.5 hours, working a flexible schedule that includes evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities:

Program Management

  • Screen and complete intake process for all participants
  • Develop service plan with participants 
  • Build trusting relationships with participants
  • Communicate and collaborate with Cease programs and community partners to enhance service provision
  • Provide referrals, information, and recommendations about internal programs and external service providers
  • Request for service/follow-up support with participants may include: housing inquiries, government benefits, transportation, housing intakes, home visits, support at appointments, access to identification, crisis management, advocacy, emotional support, inquiries about additional resources, help with applications and taxes, etc.
  • Assess individual situations and allocate time accordingly
  • Participate in public awareness and learning opportunities
  • Assist in the development and leadership of Special Projects and one time initiatives
  • Other duties may be assigned as required

Administration, Evaluation, and Reporting:

  • Maintain accurate and detailed case notes
  • Enter statistics and notes into data base on a monthly basis
  • Provide statistics and reports per funder requirements & special projects
  • Attend all scheduled team, network, training and community meetings as required
  • Consultation with the Manager on program challenges

Qualifications:

  • Diploma or Degree in Human Services (equivalencies considered)
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with individuals who are sexually exploited, or at risk for sexual exploitation.
  • Extensive background and experience working with people requiring higher levels of support due to trauma, substance use, complex health issues, and poverty
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience and competency with harm reduction, trauma informed, and strength based practices
  • Experience with community resources, programs, and services to support individuals with a history of sexual exploitation
  • Intermediate level of proficiency in Microsoft Office and participant database (ACCESS)
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment is considered an asset
  • Commitment to anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, and culturally respectful practices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build strong, trusting relationships with participants, team members, and external service providers
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings or weekends when required.
  • Valid Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle
