Summary of Travel Media Manager role:

Are you a storyteller at heart with a passion for travel and a knack for building authentic media relationships? As our Travel Media Manager, you’ll lead efforts to position Greater Victoria as a top travel destination by collaborating with journalists, influencers, and content creators across print, digital and social platforms. From crafting scroll-stopping itineraries to pitching irresistible story ideas, you’ll bring the region’s charm to life for audiences around the world. If you’re equal parts strategic and creative, love uncovering hidden gems, and know your way around both a press release and TikTok trend, we want you on our team!

This position is a hybrid role, with a requirement to work in-office at least three times per week, requiring the successful candidate to be located in the Greater Victoria region. It is a full-time 35/hrs a week role with a salary between $65,000-$70,000.

What you need to bring:

  • Degree or diploma in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or another closely related field or a combination of education and/or work experience is required.
  • Minimum three years’ experience in a public relations, social influencer, or travel media role with an understanding of the strategic side of earned coverage.
  • A strong understanding of media and social media marketing and travel influencers, what they need, how we can attract them to visit Greater Victoria, and how to ensure their in-market experience is top-notch.
  • Established media/influencer contacts; relationships with key media outlets/social media channels.
  • Ability to uncover great stories within the destination.
  • Exceptional writing skills (excellence in spelling and grammar are essential in this role).
  • Contributes to a culture of high performance, mutual support, and fosters collaboration across the organization.
  • Pro-active, self-motivated and results oriented.
  • Natural relationship builder; connector.
