About the Role

The Manager of National Standards provides management and oversight to Food Banks Canada Standards of Excellence accreditation program. The role is focused on developing, executing, evaluating, and supporting the expansion of national standards, though priorities can shift in the role as opportunities arise. The areas of focus include: 1) designing, establishing, and delivering Food Banks Canada’s Standards of Excellence program to the network of food banks, 2) managing the ongoing accreditation to the network, and 3) managing the standards review committee, the working group committee, and ensuring standards and agreements are up to date. This role will manage, review, and evaluate the standards program, and support in the development and management of the roll out of higher-level standards.

What You Will Be Doing

  • Lead the Food Banks Canada Standards of Excellence program.
  • Oversee and monitor the program progress, and submissions across the network. Work with food banks and provincial associations to come into compliance and submit standards  
  • In collaboration with the Marketing and Communications team, develop appropriate program communication materials, and other related elements and effectively communicate and promote the program 
  • Oversee the disbursement of grants to approved grantees  
  • Work with consultants to develop and execute key program elements including the development of higher levels of national standards, legal agreements, and evaluation processes 
  • Working with and supporting the network toward 95% compliance to standards 
  • Prepare the network for accreditation and manage accreditation process with the Standards of Excellence committee 
  • Work with the Marketing and Communication team as it relates to the development and implementation of standards program learning toolkits, training, and webinars 
  • Conduct and manage training and webinar sessions  
  • Lead annual compliance audits including document submission reviews and site visits, create the national review team, manage the review team to ensure deadlines are met 
  • Create, complete and provide submission of audit report annually to the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) 
  • Work with the Programs and Development teams to develop relevant reports related to programs for both staff, network, and program partners 
  • Manage timelines and budgets related to assigned programs 
  • Be a key team member in developing relationships with the network, supporting the network as they work through the standards process 
  • Manage consultations and meetings with stakeholders in the food bank network in collaboration with the Network Services team 
  • Provide leadership to direct reports through coaching, mentorship and managing performance 
  • Administrative tasks and other duties as assigned

What You Will Need

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience in program management at a non-profit
  • Program design, delivery, and evaluation experience, and extensive experience, skills, and training in successful project management 
  • Demonstrated leadership and management skills including team building, collaboration, and conflict management 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to effectively work with multiple stakeholders to solve complex problems
  • Experience working in the nonprofit sector, national organizations within a networked structure or an association is an asset 
  • Must have good operating vehicle for travel and a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record 
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work
  • This position is remote and may be based anywhere in Canada
  • Travel within will be required
