🏠 About Us

New Beginnings Recovery Home is one of Canada’s first BIPOC-owned residential addiction and mental health treatment centres. Based in the GTA, we provide trauma-informed, culturally safe care to underserved communities.

We’re looking for a compassionate, licensed physician to join our team virtually, providing initial assessments for clients entering our 28-day residential recovery program.

🔍 Role Overview

You will conduct virtual medical assessments to determine each client’s eligibility, safety, and readiness for residential addiction treatment.

📋 Responsibilities

  • Perform virtual intake assessments for incoming clients

  • Review client history (substance use, mental health, medications, etc.)

  • Identify contraindications, risks, and detox needs

  • Provide clearance for residential stay OR refer to alternate care when necessary

  • Document findings in alignment with privacy and healthcare regulations

  • Collaborate with our intake team and provide clinical direction when needed

✅ Qualifications

  • MD licensed to practice in Ontario

  • Member in good standing with CPSO

  • Must be able to bill OHIP directly for assessments and eligible counselling services (e.g. K codes)

  • Experience in addiction medicine, mental health, or family medicine preferred

  • Comfortable using virtual care platforms

  • Trauma-informed and equity-centered approach

⏰ Time Commitment

  • Flexible scheduling (evenings/weekends available)

  • Assessments typically range from 30–45 minutes per client

💰 Compensation

  • Competitive per-assessment rate (negotiable based on experience)

  • Physicians must be eligible to bill OHIP directly

  • A collaboration agreement will be required, allowing the physician to bill OHIP for counselling services provided by New Beginnings staff (e.g., social workers, psychotherapists).

  • Under this model, the physician agrees to remit a portion of billed funds to New Beginnings in exchange for access to qualified staff, client referrals, clinical oversight, and administrative support.
