Position summary

Maintenance Supervisor directly supervises maintenance staff, ensuring efficient scheduling, training, and coaching. Reporting to the Manager, Operations, this role assists with procurement, inventory management, donation coordination, and Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC).

Maintenance Supervisor ensures the cleanliness of all St. Felix Centre’s facilities, enforces health and safety standards, assists with vendor relations, and secures financial accountability for procurement. The incumbent will contribute to workplace inspections and operational improvements. Maintenance Supervisor coordinates with various stakeholders to maintain a clean, safe and efficient environment while supporting strategic operational initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITES

         Staff Supervision and Coordination

  • Supervise and coordinate maintenance personnel, scheduling of maintenance staff and ensuring adherence to schedules, cleanliness standards, and organizational policies.
  • Participating in providing ongoing performance feedback to maintenance staff
  • Travel to different sites to provide supervision to maintenance staff.
  • Coordinate and manage maintenance staff schedules, always ensuring adequate coverage.
  • Participate in the hiring process for new cleaning and maintenance workers.
  • Supervise and facilitate the training and onboarding of new maintenance staff to ensure compliance with organizational standards.
  • Resolve conflicts between personnel, guests, and residents in a professional and timely manner.

    Procurement and Inventory Management
  • Assist the Manager of Operations with procurement tasks, including market research to identify cost-effective and high-quality suppliers.
  • Conduct regular inventory inspections to maintain accuracy and order within inventory management systems.
  • Order and maintain stock of cleaning supplies, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other operational materials.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure seamless procurement and service delivery.

    Operational Efficiency
  • Monitor operational requirements, recommending and implementing strategies to optimize resource use.
  • Ensure the proper upkeep and maintenance of equipment and supplies in compliance with Health and Safety regulations.
  • Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of Infection Prevention and Control (IPAC) procedures to maintain a safe and hygienic environment.
  • Assist the Manager of Operations with workplace inspections and audits, including IPAC.
  • Implement corrective actions based on findings from workplace inspections to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.

    Reporting and Strategic Contributions
  • Prepare and present reports related to procurement, inventory, and supervision of maintenance staff for senior management review.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of the organization’s strategic operational plans.
  • Prepare detailed and timely reports as required by management or regulatory bodies.

    Other Responsibilities
  • Coordinate donation activities assigned by the Manager, Operations.
  • Prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines while maintaining safety and operational standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the operations team.

Education

  • Completion of a college diploma in related field or commensurate work experience;
  • Current certification in Health and Safety or must obtain certification within 6 months of assuming the position and maintain certification.

EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience supervising staff, including scheduling, training, and performance management.
  • Experience resolving conflicts in a professional and efficient manner;
  • Hands-on experience with cleaning procedures, equipment, and the procurement of cleaning supplies and personal protective equipment (PPE);
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement practices, including market research, vendor negotiations, and cost-effective purchasing;
  • Strong experience in inventory management, including stock control, inspections, and maintaining accurate inventory systems;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Health and Safety and IPAC best practices;
  • Experience working in a unionized environment and administering a collective agreement would be a preferred asset.
  • Experience working with people experiencing homelessness considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of low barrier and anti-oppressive approaches considered an asset.

SKILLS

  • Working knowledge of WHMIS;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint), Zoom, Google Suite;
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills;
  • Strong knowledge of Health and Safety regulations, including workplace inspections and compliance requirements;
  • Proficiency in inventory management systems and basic financial reporting;
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and other physical activities including walking, standing, sitting, lifting and bending for continuous periods;
  • Ability to adapt and multitask in a fast paced and highly dynamic environment.

(Sunday – Saturday)

Shift: 7:00 am – 3:00 pm

Shift: 3:00 pm – 11:00 pm

Shift: 11:00 pm – 7:00 am
