Join our dedicated team to provide therapeutic support that promotes wellness, strengthens family connections, and supports transitions such as reunification. In this dynamic role, you’ll collaborate with caregivers and community partners, delivering client-centered care across homes, community spaces, and our office—always prioritizing family safety and well-being.
Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will provide individual, couple, and family counselling in various settings, using trauma-informed, culturally responsive, and evidence-based approaches tailored to client goals. They will collaborate with clients, MCFD, and Family Preservation Workers to conduct assessments, set clear goals, and develop therapeutic service plans. The role includes offering crisis intervention, making appropriate community referrals, participating in integrated case management and discharge planning, maintaining accurate records, and providing reports in accordance with MCFD and agency standards.
The ideal candidate holds a Master’s degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field and is eligible for professional registration (RCC preferred), with at least two years of relevant experience. A valid Class 5 driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle with business insurance are required.
The role demands strong knowledge of counselling modalities, trauma-informed and culturally responsive practices, and experience in individual, couple, and family counselling. They should possess broad knowledge of family systems, trauma-informed practices, attachment theory, behavior management, child and family development, grief and loss, substance use, and mental health issues.
The candidate must be skilled in assessment, crisis intervention, service planning, and collaboration with MCFD and community partners, with a commitment to maintaining accurate records and delivering respectful, client-centered care. The candidate must have a positive, professional, and non-judgmental attitude, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team. They should uphold ethical standards, demonstrate flexibility, and possess strong leadership and communication skills.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
