About the Position:

The Digital Assistant is responsible for the digitization project for historical copies of the Chinese language monthly publication for older adults that have been in circulation since 1985.  Works with other staff members and volunteers to ensure materials are processed accurately and with high quality.  Supports the creation of a communications plan for the launch of historical documents for public access.

Reports to: Program Director

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Compiles and prepares historical materials for scanning
  • Reviews materials to ensure accuracy and high quality
  • Prepares accurate metadata for all scanned materials
  • Provides workflow training for volunteers who support the project
  • Communicates with supervisor on work progress, challenges and support needed
  • Creates communication plan to prepare for launch of scanned materials for public access
  • Conducts other related duties as required by the Program Director

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Grade 12 education or higher
  • Prior experience working in an office setting
  • Knowledge in social media, specifically Facebook and Linkedin
  • Knowledge in marketing and communications an asset

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Reading and writing proficiency in Traditional Chinese an asset
  • Excellent skills in using computers, printers and scanners
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent time management and organization skills

  • Criminal Record Check Required
  • Able to work evenings and weekends as required
