About the Position

Drive Youth Employment Services (D-YES) is a satellite program of Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House that supports youth aged 16-30 to achieve employment goals under the WorkBC Employment Services model as an Outreach site of Vancouver Northeast WorkBC Centre. The Employment Resource Advisor will work alongside staff from WorkBC and other Frog Hollow youth programs to provide support to youth facing barriers to employment. This includes working with youth one-on-one, providing referrals and compiling resources, and assisting the WorkBC team with client contact and documentation. This role works in-person at 2106 Commercial Drive.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for youth visiting the centre, and support with online job search services, resources, and strategies, including resume assistance and mock interviews
  • Provide general support in the D-YES resource room: greeting clients; introducing them to our services and programs; responding to inquiries; providing information about community resources; answering the phone; scheduling client appointments
  • Liaise with WorkBC clients in person and remotely to assist with determining eligibility, booking intakes, and following up on employment status, documenting notes in OES (Online Employment Services portal) and the Integrated Case Management database (ICM)
  • Assist the WorkBC staff team with documentation and administrative compliance as required
  • Update and compile youth-specific community resources, and rotate resource posters and materials in the centre as required
  • Facilitate workshops
  • Ability to manage social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Research resources and local job opportunities as required
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in child and youth care, recreation, social work, employment counselling, or related field is an asset.
  • 2 years of experience working with youth aged 16-30, ideally with those facing barriers to employment
  • Strengths based support style
  • Experience with the Integrated Case Management (ICM) system and WorkBC Employment Services an asset
  • Experience with marketing and building community relationships an asset
  • Commitment to ongoing training surrounding the WorkBC Employment Services model
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
  • Excellent administrative skills
  • Knowledge of local youth services/community resources

 

Start Date:                          ASAP

Hours:                                35 hours per week, Monday-Friday

Starting Wage:                  $23.59 - $26.14/hour ANHBC Band P4 Youth Worker
