About the Role

We are looking for a Communications and Social Media Manager to help share our mission of ending hunger in Canada with the world. This role is perfect for a savvy communicator who loves to craft compelling content, spark engagement, and lead strategic campaigns across multiple social platforms. Reporting to the Director of External Communications, you’ll shape our online voice, grow our digital community, and champion the Food Banks Canada brand across departments and audiences. From leading influencer collaborations and managing social listening to supporting major campaigns like HungerCount and After the Bell, you’ll have the opportunity to make real impact every day. What You Will Be Doing

  • Provide recommendations to the Director of External Communications related to the development of the Food Banks Canada social media and digital communications strategy
  • Lead and execute various social media campaigns to support engagement and grow our social media following
  • Manage the writing, editing, and posting of key social communications on various platforms
  • Manage all social listening, posting, and responding through a variety of social media channels (Facebook, Bluesky, Instagram, and LinkedIn via Hootsuite, etc.) in a timely fashion
  • Manage the organization’s annual social media plan and calendar
  • Work with media AOR in the development, execution and evaluation of paid social campaigns
  • Execute social media strategies including influencer outreach programs
  • Execute project planning and management of all social media communications campaigns

What You Will Need

  • Completion of an undergraduate degree or equivalent in business, communications, journalism, public relations, or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ related experience
  • Proven experience working in a digital environment with lead responsibility for social media, content management systems and analytics and measurement platforms
  • Proven experience with Cision and Hootsuite or comparable platforms is required
  • Proven advanced written and verbal communication skills
  • Advanced social media platform functional knowledge and understanding of changing platform trends
  • Advanced analytical skills and ability to understand underlying reasons for trends
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to effectively coordinate multiple projects, meet deadlines and priorities
  • Attention to detail and accuracy including strong proofreading and editing skills
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset

Working Conditions

  • Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional evening and weekend work
  • This position is remote and may be based anywhere in Canada
  • Occasional travel within Canada may be required
