Lead the charge in transforming lives through housing! As the Director of Housing and Homelessness at Options Community Services, you will shape innovative programs, foster strong partnerships, and ensure individuals and families experiencing homelessness have access to safe, affordable, and supportive homes.
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the successful candidate will provide strategic leadership by developing and implementing comprehensive housing and homelessness strategies that align with best practices and community needs. They will oversee diverse housing programs, ensure effective service delivery through policy development and evaluation, and advise senior leadership on emerging trends. This role also involves building robust partnerships, advocating for supportive policies, managing multi-million-dollar budgets and contracts, and leading funding initiatives. Additionally, the Director will supervise staff, foster an inclusive workplace culture, drive policy development and research, lead crisis and emergency housing responses, and serve as a public spokesperson when needed.
The ideal candidate will have a Master’s degree in Social Work, Public Administration, Housing Policy, Urban Planning, Indigenous Studies, or a related field. Additional training in trauma-informed care, harm reduction, project management, or Indigenous cultural safety is considered an asset.
They will bring 7–10 years of leadership experience in housing, homelessness, or social services, with proven expertise in managing large budgets, contracts, and funding agreements. The candidate should have extensive experience supporting individuals facing homelessness, mental health challenges, substance use, and systemic oppression, and possess strong knowledge of Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Trauma-Informed Care models.
Additionally, they will demonstrate strong skills in policy development, strategic planning, program implementation, and building partnerships with Indigenous communities, housing providers, government agencies, and equity-deserving groups such as Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ2S+, and racialized populations.
This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
