CEASE is seeking a dynamic, creative, and community-driven individual to fill the role of Public Education and Engagement Coordinator. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about social justice and prevention education, and who brings experience in digital communications, community outreach, and event planning.
The successful candidate will lead CEASE’s public-facing education and prevention efforts, manage our website and digital communications, plan events, and help raise awareness about sexual exploitation and trafficking in Alberta. This is a highly collaborative position that combines advocacy, storytelling, and communications to help shift public understanding and create change.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Education & Prevention
- Deliver and support community presentations and public education sessions on sexual exploitation, human trafficking, and demand reduction.
- Create accessible, trauma-informed, and culturally appropriate educational content for diverse audiences (youth, professionals, service providers, and the general public).
- Participate in and support subcommittees and community initiatives, including the Labour Trafficking Subcommittee.
Website, Social Media, and Newsletter
- Maintain and update the CEASE website (e.g., WordPress or similar CMS).
- Create and schedule engaging, consistent content for CEASE’s social media platforms (Instagram, X/Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Design and distribute a monthly or quarterly e-newsletter using platforms like Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
- Collect and share impact stories (with appropriate permissions) from CEASE’s programs and community.
Event Planning
- Plan, coordinate, and support CEASE-hosted events (e.g., Red Dress Day, Men of Honour, prevention campaigns).
- Handle event logistics, promotion, community outreach, volunteer coordination, and post-event evaluation
Community Engagement
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Represent CEASE at community events, coalitions, and awareness activities.
- Collaborate with the CEASE team to support holistic, survivor-informed initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or degree in communications, community development, social work, public health, or equivalent experience.
- Strong digital communications skills (social media, Mailchimp, Canva, WordPress, etc.).
- Event planning and community outreach experience.
- Knowledge of human trafficking, sexual exploitation, or violence prevention an asset.
- Excellent communication, cultural humility, and organizational skills.
Required:
- Experience in community outreach, public education, or digital communications.
- Proficiency in social media platforms, newsletter tools (e.g., Mailchimp), and website management (e.g., WordPress).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- A passion for ending human trafficking and supporting social justice, equity, and trauma-informed practice.
- Graphic design skills (e.g., Canva or Adobe Suite).
- Experience working with survivors, vulnerable communities, or in the anti-violence sector.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT
- A clear Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check will be required.
- Some evening or weekend work may be required for events or outreach.
