The Vancouver Sun Children’s Fund (VSCF) is seeking an Interim Executive Director to provide full-time leadership during a key transition period. This is a unique opportunity to guide a small but high-impact charity that funds school meal programs, clothing, other essentials and support — helping kids arrive at school with dignity, ready to learn.
The Interim Executive Director role is anticipated to be in place for a period of approximately five (5) months, however, it will be considered indefinite and is not for any specific fixed-term or fixed-period. We intend on hiring a Permanent Executive Director who will replace the Interim Executive Director and, while outside candidates will be considered for the Permanent Executive Director position, we also expect to consider the Interim Executive Director for the role of Permanent Executive Director. We envision hiring an Interim Executive Director in the capacity of an employee, however, we are also willing to consider candidates who may prefer to assume the role of Interim Executive Director in the capacity of an independent contractor.
- Raises public donations to fight child poverty, with 100% of donations going directly to children and youth
- Funds food security, basic necessities, and support for vulnerable children and youth across BC
- Raises awareness and advocates for long-term solutions to food insecurity and poverty
- Provide full-time leadership across fundraising, grants, governance, and operations
- Steward relationships with donors, media, partners, and stakeholders
- Support the Board of Directors in strategic planning, financial oversight, and program impact
- Manage a small, nimble organization with a reputation for integrity, transparency, and high impact
- A senior nonprofit leader or consultant with 5+ years of executive experience
- Skilled in fundraising, donor relations, financial management, and communications
- Experienced working with Boards, volunteers, and diverse stakeholders
- A pragmatic, flexible leader available for immediate full-time engagement (contractor or employee)
- Full-time (employee but open to considering a contractor position)
- Start date: As soon as possible
- Location: Remote/home-based, with flexibility for in-person meetings/events |
- Compensation Range: The compensation for the Interim Executive Director role will be based on an annual salary in the range of $100,000 to $120,000 CAD, pro-rated to the actual duration of the Interim Executive Director’s employment or engagement, and commensurate with the candidate’s experience and qualifications.
