Role Overview
The Manager, Digital Marketing oversees several key elements of our organization’s digital marketing efforts including email, social media, and online paid media. This role is responsible for managing day-to-day execution and performance of campaigns across these channels in alignment with organizational goals. The role includes managing a direct report and collaborating with internal teams and external agency partners to develop and implement results-driven digital strategies.
This role reports to the Executive Director, Digital Marketing
Contract Length: This role is a 9-month contract, with the possibility of extension. This role supports a temporary internal reassignment and is tied to a specific project.
Location: 1000 – 170 University Ave. Toronto, Ontario. Flexible hybrid work policy with remote options available across Canada.
This role includes, but not limited to:
- Manage email marketing, social and paid digital media channels overseeing performance and ensuring they align with campaign goals and business objectives
- Develop social media, paid digital and email marketing strategies for marketing campaigns that help internal stakeholders achieve their goals and objectives
- Execute and optimize email marketing campaigns including recommendations for delivery timing, segmentation, A/B testing, and compliance with CASL and email best practices
- Oversee the social media calendar and content execution, providing support and leadership to the Digital Marketing Specialist
- Manage Diabetes Canada’s Google Grants program in partnership with our agency to develop strategies for monthly campaigns, and work with internal stakeholders to finalize copy
- Plan, execute and optimize small-scale paid social campaigns in house on Facebook and LinkedIn including audience targeting, creative set up, budget management and performance tracking
- Work with our paid media agency to plan and execute digital advertising campaigns including PPC, display, social media, remarketing
- Manage campaign budgets in collaboration with our media agency, including setting up contracts, obtaining internal approvals, coordinating with internal systems and Accounts Payable to process invoices, and ensuring accurate spend allocation on behalf of internal stakeholders
- Set clear objectives for online campaigns, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and provide reports on campaign performance
- Monitor for unauthorized use of Diabetes Canada’s brand in digital advertising (e.g., scam ads, misleading product promotions), and use various reporting tools to report and escalate fraudulent content
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends, emerging technologies, best practices in digital marketing and integrate this knowledge into the digital governance at Diabetes Canada and campaign recommendations for improvement
- Manage and mentor a direct report, providing guidance, coaching, and feedback to support their growth and development
The ideal candidate possesses:
- Post-secondary diploma or university degree in marketing, communications, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in digital marketing, including hands-on experience managing email marketing, social media and online paid advertising campaigns
- Proven experience working with media agencies and managing internal stakeholders
- Experience with marketing platforms such as Mailchimp, Meta Business Suite, LinkedIn Campaign & Business Manager, analytics/reporting tools
- Experience developing and implementing strategies aligned to KPIs and organizations objectives
- 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring direct reports
- Experience working within the not-for-profit sector an asset
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent analytical skills and the ability to interpret data to drive campaign performance.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple campaigns concurrently and meet deadlines.
- Strong understanding of email marketing best practices, including segmentation, list management, and A/B testing
