Under general supervision, assembles, prepares, and serves food and beverage products, and maintains the cleanliness of the cafeteria area. May operate a cash register, receive and issue cash.
Typical Duties

The following illustrative tasks indicate the level of skill required and the extent of the responsibility involved in this position. They in no way limit the incumbent to the tasks indicated. Flexibility of the employee to perform a wide variety of functions is necessary to fulfill the requirements of this position successfully. The degree to which each employee performs each of the following tasks listed below will vary according to where and when the employee is scheduled to work.
(a) assembles workstation with appropriate products and equipment
(b) assembles, prepares, and serves food and beverage products
(c)  cooks stir fry and grill, displays cooking, may cook some other items 
(d) prepares sandwiches, salads and bakes premixed food products
(e) advises and provides information to customers, such as ingredients, pricing, and portion size
(f) collects dishes and tableware used by customers and places them in appropriate areas
for washing
(g) cleans table tops, counters and furniture in the cafeteria and the surrounding area
(h) maintains adequate supplies of dishes, utensils, food and paper products in various
receptacles for use by customers
(i) removes soiled tableware and garbage to specific locations, sorts recyclable materials
(j) scrubs pots and pans, and washes dishes
(k) cleans floors; staff locker rooms and washrooms
(l) receives and stores food and supplies; checks receiving slips for accuracy
(m) sets up and prepares the cash register, receives cash float and sets up cash appropriately
keys menu prices into the cash register if required
(n) prepares reports at the end of each shift
(o) writes special menus and their prices on the menu board
(p) prepares condiment and dessert counters
(q) balances cash at the end of the shift, delivers cash to the accountant or locks it in the safe
(r) may keep records of stores on hand
(s) other related duties as required
Minimum Requirements for Selection
Education: Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent

Experience: One year of related working experience
Other: Physical ability to perform required duties, ability to communicate effectively in English (oral and written), considerable public relations skills (courtesy and tact) and may be required to complete a University of Toronto server training program. Knowledge of food safety. Ability to work well in a team setting. Ability to handle figures rapidly.
