LAMP Community Health Centre is a multi-service, community based charitable organization that provides a wide range of programs and services to improve a person's health. LAMP uses a co-ordinated approach to connect people to medical services and other programs that build personal resources. Job Summary

Under the direct supervision of the Among Friends Program Coordinator, the Program Worker supports ongoing social/recreational programming.

The incumbent will ensure that all organizational policies are followed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead programs consistent with member needs, goals and interests which focus on:

             - Health Promotion

             - Life-skill Development

­             - Community education, exploration and involvement

­             - Recreation and leisure skill development

             - ­Psychosocial Rehabilitation

  • Create and maintain a welcoming and supportive environment for members.
  • Support and promote the philosophy, goals, objectives and standards of the Among Friends Program.
  • Ensure a clean program environment.
  • Assume other responsibilities as required by Coordinator.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree or Diploma in Recreation, Social Work, Social Service Work, or equivalency.
  • One year of experience in a community mental health setting.
  • Ability to manage groups in a social/recreation setting.
  • Valid First Aid and CPR certificates (must be kept current every three years).
  • Excellent ability to perceive and be sensitive to the feelings and attitude of others, as well as be able to address problems in a prompt and non-defensive manner.
  • Effective multi-tasking skills with excellent attention to detail for accuracy and thoroughness.
  • Demonstrate the ability and willingness to align oneself with the values, vision and goals of LAMP Community Health Centre.
  • An understanding of the social determinants of health and mental illness.
