part time - temporary / contract  •  $24.43 - $28.04 depending on qualifications/experience

Performs a variety of clerical duties in support of Ishtar’s accounting functions. Checks source documents, enters data into computerized accounting systems and maintains a variety of records.

Hours of work: 3 days a week (Monday to Friday) 6 hours per day at our Langley Office.

Education and Experience

• Grade 12, plus related post-secondary courses.

• One (1) year recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

• Competent in using Microsoft office suites such as outlook, word, excel, and cloud-based services.

• Ability to work in a group as well as independently while guided by organizational policies.

• Ability to meet the physical demand of the job.

• Has a solid understanding of accounts payable and receivable, coding, and transactional accounting.

• Knows how to organize, process, and make sense of data.

• Interacts thoughtfully and efficiently through various methods, including phone, email, and face-to-face, making oral and written communication skills equally important.

• Has an eagerness to learn and can adapt to changes and learn new skills.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including recording transactions, and processing invoices.

2. Checks source documents such as invoices, credit card trackers, and petty cash and expense forms for accuracy and completeness.

3. Performs basic calculations from source documents such as sums owed, splitting GST, etc.

4. Inputs data from source documents into computerized accounting systems or spreadsheets.

5. Organizes and files documents such as invoices, cheque requisitions and bills; maintains the filing system in accordance with established guidelines.

6. Prepares cheques for signing. Compares cheques to source documents to ensure accuracy. Distributes cheques to staff and vendors.

7. Processes petty cash transactions.

8. Prepares and deposits cash receipts; maintains records.

9. Cultivates a positive, inclusive work environment and fosters trust in accounting practices.

10. Performs other duties as required, particularly administrative tasks
