YOUTH WORKER
(Full-time, Permanent Position)
About the position:
McMan is seeking to recruit a dedicated Float YOUTH WORKER that will work between two homes that provide care to youth (between the ages of 6-18 years-there may be times when there maybe younger children based on need) who struggle with complex pain-based behaviours, using the CARE Model while demonstrating a strength-based, solution-focused approach. Team members are central to mentoring, supporting, and guiding youth in developing the skills they need for independence and well-being.
Hours: 40 hours per week, Saturday/Sunday 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, Monday and Tuesday will either be a 7-3 or 3-11 shift based on program needs. Days off Wed, Thurs, Fri.
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
What you’ll do:
• Connect with and develop helping relationships with youth
• Support and offer guidance to youth
• Supervise youth in the home
• Complete documentation
• Perform administrative and cleaning duties relating to the operation of the home
• Participate in on-going program development
What you bring:
• Completion of a Degree/Diploma in Human Services
• Six (6) months of directly related experience in youth/family work
• Equivalencies may be considered
• Standard First Aid-Level C CPR + AED
• Police Information Check; including Vulnerable Persons Sector Check (from within the last 6 months)
• Children Services Intervention Record Check (from within the last 6 months)
• Valid 3-year Class 5 driver’s license and current drivers abstract are required and/or a reliable vehicle with $2 Million liability auto insurance
• Strong communication and relationship building skills are an asset
• Ability to deal with complex high needs
• Experience with trauma and developmental delays
• Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and harm reduction practices
• CARE (Children And Residential Experiences) training is an asset
• Desire to see young people succeed
• Ability to assist with Personal Care
