About The Bridge

The Fort Saskatchewan Wellness Hub for Youth (The Bridge)- Kickstand Fort Saskatchewan is a wellness hub for all youth between the ages of 11 - 24 years old. The Bridge provides various health and wellness services for youth including counseling and support groups/programs. 

We are an open and inclusive space for all youth to access whether they are utilizing support services or simply coming to hang out.

Vision: To lead the community in empowering youth as they strengthen their resiliency and overall wellness.

Mission: Our mission at The Bridge Wellness Hub for Youth is to foster a supportive, inclusive, and empowering environment where youth can thrive. We aim to promote holistic well-being through accessible programs, resources, community engagement, encouraging and empowering every young person to grow into their best selves and lead a healthy, balanced life.

 

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Greet visitors, answer the phone, and support touring the space
  • Setting up snacks and meals for youth
  • Assist with scheduled program activities
  • Build strong and positive relationships with youth and families
  • Debriefing with staff, volunteers, and service providers
  • Ensure a healthy environment by cleaning after activities and meals
  • Assist Program Coordinator with weekly social media posts on Instagram, and Facebook
  • Manage social media posts on Instagram, and Facebook
  • Create Flyers/ information pamphlets for Social Media and print format
  • Helping the community understand the Stepped Care Model.
  • Booking Clients
  • Check-ins with volunteers, services providers and practicum students
  • Check-ins with youth
  • Create the calendar and coordinate with service providers, guests and contractors on scheduling
  • Enrolling volunteers and practicum students in training opportunities
  • Handle expenses, for personal card, business card, and petty cash
  • Managing The Bridge independently on occasional nights when required
  • Pick up items from the food bank and coordinate supplies
  • Pick up groceries for the hub, and schedule snacks and supper for the week
  • Support scheduled program activities with assistance from practicum students and or volunteers
  • Support program activities with Program Coordinator and Support Worker
  • Facilitate and deliver Workshops and sessions related to Mental Health as needed
  • Administrative and office activities
  • Food preparation
  • Housekeeping activities
  • Resolve conflict situations

Confidentiality and Privacy regarding Youth, Staff (including Support Services Staff) and Volunteers is of the utmost importance.

Required Education, Experience and Skills: 

  • A Diploma in health, social science or other related disciplines is preferred. Post secondary students are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with good oral and written communication
  • Passion for working with youth (ages 11-24) and within a multidisciplinary team 
  • Able to work well in a team environment with the ability to handle stressful situations in a non-confrontational, problem-solving manner.
  • Understanding of health issues affecting youth, such as drug and alcohol addictions, intergenerational trauma, mental health, and other behavioural issues
  • Understanding of harm reduction, person-centered, trauma-informed, and strength-based care
  • Valid driver’s license and the ability to travel within Alberta is required
  • Vulnerable sector and criminal record check, child intervention check required
  • Experience with trauma informed care an asset

Compensation & Schedule

Compensation: $19 to 21/hour depending on qualifications and experience.

Regularly scheduled hours will be between eighteen (18) to twenty-four (24) hours and shall not exceed twenty-eight (28) hours per week.

Must be available to work during the hours of Operation as below:

Hours of Operation:

•         Mondays: 11am to 7pm

•         Tuesdays: 11am to 7pm

•         Wednesdays: 1 to 8:30pm

•         Thursdays: 1 to 8:30pm
