Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a Director of Education & Community Engagement to lead our Education & Outreach teams.

  • Start Date: November 24th, 2025 (flexible)
  • Starting salary range: $70,000-$82,000
  • Hours: 37.5 hrs/week

What you will do

You will lead Ottawa Riverkeeper’s education and community engagement programs, ensuring the development, delivery, and impact towards the organizational mission of protecting the ecological health of the Ottawa River and its tributaries .

  • Lead the development of formal and informal education programming, including youth programs, school initiatives, and public engagement activities.
  • Represent Ottawa Riverkeeper and foster relationships with schools, educators, community groups, and other stakeholders
  • Support the fundraising team to secure funding for education and engagement programs, and help develop grant applications and ensure timely reporting to funders.
  • Contribute to strategic planning to ensure the long-term growth and impact of Ottawa Riverkeeper as a member of the management team

What you bring

You have a genuine interest in our cause, strong support for it, and a passion for environmental issues. For success in the role, you also have:

  • Demonstrated project and people management skills (i.e., supervision of staff or volunteers, managing budgets, reporting)
  • A minimum of five years of teaching experience in environmental education (or related discipline), preferably with a Bachelor of Education or a degree in a related field
  • Experience developing, leading, and evaluating educational or outreach programs for diverse learners and participants

Other valued skills and competencies

  • Familiarity with Anishinābeg Algonquin protocols, history, and ways of knowing
  • Bilingual in English and French (oral and written)
  • Valid driver’s licence and access to a vehicle
  • Valid First Aid certificate
