Key Responsibilities

Major Responsibilities:

  • 90% Operations & Logistics
  • 10% Facilitation/Training


Duties:

Program Operations & Logistics

  • Manage operational workflows for GSL placements (YAMEN & SALT), including timelines, documentation, and coordination with GSL Program Leads and regional/provincial, and international program offices.
  • Oversee travel logistics (Seek), visa processes (SALT & YAMEN), and other pre-assignment arrangements for program participants.
  • Maintain systems for tracking placements and assignment/travel-related data.

Facilitation/Training

  • Assist with planning and implementation of GSL gatherings (Orientation, Re-entry, etc.)
  • Possible travel outside of Canada/U.S. to assist with GSL gathering. (July or August)
  • Assist with identifying and organizing professional development opportunities for GSL participants including development of resources that foster personal, professional, and spiritual growth.

Other

  • Ensure that the Gospel of Jesus Christ is exemplified in the performance of all job responsibilities and through personal example.
  • Participate in regular staff meetings, spending time in devotions and prayer with all in attendance in local MCC setting.
  • Model nonviolent peacemaking through daily interactions with staff and the public.
  • Participate in a local church and gatherings, being willing to use their gifts within the local faith community.
  • Other duties as assigned

Contact/Relationships: This position will have direct contact with multiple MCC departments in Canada and the U.S., participants (prospective, actual, and alumni), international program, provincial and regional offices. They may also have contact with service providers and MCC constituents.
Supervision: no direct reports

Complexity/Competencies: The position requires coordination across multiple departments and stakeholders, balancing standardized processes with adaptability. While the role follows established procedures, it also requires initiative to improve workflows, track data, and problem solve in real time.

Independent Action: This role has autonomy in managing logistics, timelines, and day to day problem solving, while deferring strategic decisions to the GSL Director and Program Leads.

Initiative and Ingenuity: The position requires proactive planning, creativity in problem solving, and attention to process improvements for efficiency and effectiveness.

Communication/Interpersonal Skills:

  • Depth: Standard requests, verification, and explanation of policies, procedures, or regulations.
  • Leadership: Occasionally leads aspects of facilitation/training or coordination of gatherings.
  • Scope: Frequent communication between Program Leads, participants, and stakeholders.


Mental/Physical/Visual Demand: High concentration and attention to detail required. Moderate stress due to balancing multiple priorities and interruptions.
