Position Description – Volunteer Coordinator Seniors Serving Senior

Seniors Serving Seniors Association of BC is a non-profit, charitable organization established in 1981 to promote the well-being of senior citizens in Victoria, BC. Our vision is to enhance Seniors’ quality of life and independence as a direct result of the caring, supportive connections created by their needs and the resources offered by our community.

The Volunteer Coordinator is the person contracted by Seniors Serving Seniors (SSSBC) to provide coordination of volunteer recruitment and training, ongoing education sessions, volunteer scheduling and activity with clients while maintaining confidential information as required by the Island Health Authority.

Volunteers defined as those that deliver SSSBC program services such as the Seniors Directory, Seniors Link and “Return to Health” (RTH).  We have a roster of 20 – 30 volunteers.  For purposes of this definition, Board Members are volunteer Board Members but are set aside from the Volunteer Coordinator’s responsibilities. Board Members collaborate exclusively with the Executive Director.  

Position Description –

Reporting to: Executive Director, the Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the various volunteer services of the SSSBC.  This is an independent contractor position who collaborates closely with a team.  Contract term: 12 months estimated at 20 hours per week.   Remuneration: $2500/month ($30,000 total)

Requirements:

•       Trained in FOIPPA and PIPA (learning modules completed)

•       Criminal record check (Vulnerable sector)

•       Accustomed to volunteer development, scheduling volunteer assignments

•       Excellent customer service

•       Ability to develop training plans for our volunteers.

•       Experience in volunteer recruitment is desirable. 

•       Computer skills (Microsoft) are a definite asset. 

•       Dbase skills a definite asset.
