Job Summary:
The Rapid Response Program Manager provides leadership and coordination for our 24/7 Paramedic Program, delivering emergency medical services across the shelter network. This role ensures high-quality, efficient, and compassionate care while enhancing integration with other health and shelter programs. The Manager oversees operations, supports staff development, and drives quality improvement through strategic direction and mentorship.
This role is ideal for a leader who is passionate about both frontline care and systems improvement—someone who thrives on collaboration, innovation, and improving health outcomes for vulnerable populations.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the 24/7 Rapid Response Program, including scheduling, staffing, and coverage planning.
- Lead recruitment, onboarding, and orientation of new Rapid Response staff to ensure readiness and alignment with organizational values.
- Develop and implement operational policies, clinical protocols, and emergency response standards in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Manage program purchasing and inventory (medications, supplies, equipment).
- Coordinate with Health Services and shelter management teams to integrate EMS services with other programs and initiatives.
- Conduct performance evaluations, identify training needs, and provide ongoing professional development for Rapid Response and EMS staff.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Current registration in good standing with the Alberta College of Paramedics (ACoP) as an Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP), or as a Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) with demonstrated leadership experience.
- Strong computer literacy, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with health systems such as Netcare and other Electronic Medical Records
- Demonstrated experience in leadership or supervisory roles within EMS or healthcare settings.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, with the ability to coach, mentor, and build team confidence.
- Proven organizational, analytical, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Understanding of the Alberta healthcare system, community health standards, and documentation protocols.
- Experience working with vulnerable populations.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Emergency Management, Public Health, EMS Administration, Healthcare Leadership, or Business Administration is an asset.
- Education or experience in community health services
- Demonstrated success collaborating within multidisciplinary teams and fostering inclusive, positive work environments.
- Experience with program development, policy creation, and quality improvement in healthcare or community-based settings.
- Experience in both supervisory and managerial capacities within EMS or related health services.
