As Communications Coordinator & Graphic Designer, you will shape how the Students’ Union communicates its mandate and activities to its members and the wider community on campus and beyond by developing communications and promotional materials, brand guidelines, and collaborating on projects that make a visible impact on the TMU community.

Who Are We:
The Toronto Metropolitan Students’ Union (TMSU) is a dynamic student-governed organization that inspires collaboration, advocacy, and equity across campus. What You’ll Do:
● Writing, Design and Production: Lead the copywriting, design and production of all printed and digital materials for TMSU projects, services, promotions, campaigns and events.
● Online: Create written and visual content, including artistic elements, for the TMSU website and social media accounts, including banner ads, and other electronic materials; manage website and social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.).
● Newsletter: Relaunch a regular Newsletter to be emailed to all members and subscribers
● Brand Stewardship: Help develop and maintain TMSU’s visual identity by creating style guides, and ensuring consistency across platforms.
● Creative Collaboration: Work with Management to set the conceptual direction for campaigns and recommend media/formats to achieve the strongest impact.
● Marketing Strategy: Support the development of annual marketing/communications strategies and help execute engaging digital/social content and graphic elements.
● Vendor Liaison: Obtain price quotes, coordinate with printers and suppliers, and ensure timely and cost-effective production.
● Resource Management: Develop and maintain TMSU’s bank of photos, illustrations, and promotional assets. Assist with hiring illustrators or photographers as needed.
● Research & Innovation: Stay current with new media and industry trends to bring fresh ideas and techniques to TMSU’s promotions.
● Other Duties: Step in with support or handle related tasks as needed, helping the TMSU team thrive in all creative and marketing/communications initiatives.
Education, Training, Skills & Experience
The ideal candidate will have:
Education: Postsecondary degree or diploma in Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design, Visual Communications, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional marketing, communications, and/or graphic design in a fast-paced creative setting.
Skills:
o Strong writing skills, ability to write compelling copy appropriate for TMSU
o Proficiency in leading design software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar), presentation software (PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Design Suite, etc.), and simple video production/editing (iMovie, Adobe Premiere, Windows Movie Maker, TikTok, etc.)
o Strong portfolio showcasing brand, print and digital design.
o Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
o Ability to set and meet production timelines.
o Superior communication skills and collaborative spirit.
o Knowledge of print production, pre-press and digital media formats.

Start Date: How soon can you start?
Hours/Week: Full-time, 40 hours/week, unionized position (CUPE)
Location: On-campus, with some flexibility coordinated in advance with TMSU management.
