Role Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and dedicated nurse to join the nurse-led clinic within our Calgary based Dayspace. As a nurse, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and promoting overall wellness for the vulnerably housed community. Clients present with various physical, psychological, and social health concerns, as well as challenges with addictions. The community health nurse uses their clinical expertise and critical thinking to provide holistic care to clients. The successful candidate will continuously increase their knowledge of and relationship with community resources to guide clients to the appropriate areas to meet their health needs. The nurse will provide leadership and guidance to shelter staff colleagues on methods to promote the health and safety of both staff and clients. The nurse will also be mobile in their care, able to safely provide services within the shelter and the property immediately surrounding it.
Specific Responsibilities:
Active registration in good standing with either the College of Registered Nurses (CRNA) or the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA). Active First Aid certification (preferably BLS-HCP). Active professional liability protection insurance. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Self-motivated and able to work well with minimal supervision. Capable of working collaboratively with the health care team.
Experience with vulnerable populations, especially those experiencing homelessness. Proficiency in computer skills and EMR systems. Strong understanding of Culturally Informed Care and Trauma Informed Care. Strong communication skills. Candidates should demonstrate a strong capacity for independence, self-motivation, and the ability to proactively take initiative in their work.
