Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a Campaign Assistant to join our team and support the delivery of compelling public advocacy campaigns that protect the Ottawa River and its watershed.

- Hourly Wage: $21.95
- Hours: 37.5 hrs/week

What you will do
As Campaign Assistant, you will contribute to the development and delivery of communications and policy development campaigns that build public awareness and drive action on freshwater issues. This may include:
- Supporting campaign planning and rollout by helping to research issues, draft content, and coordinate logistics
- Writing, planning, and designing social media content to support policy development initiatives and public engagement, including written and visual content
- Monitoring online conversations, campaign analytics, and media mentions to inform strategy
- Drafting internal policy memos and external advocacy communications (such as blogs, web content, newsletters, and campaign materials)
- Managing internal campaign files and assisting with administrative support (scheduling, agendas, meeting notes, and follow-up)
What you bring
You are energetic and passionate about the environment, and you have a desire to protect it! For further success in the role, you also have:
- Excellent writing and communication skills
- Some familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, Twitter/X, TikTok) and content scheduling tools
- Ability to research, synthesize, and communicate information on environmental issues
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality
Other valued skills:
- Experience in environmental advocacy, public campaigns, or policy work
- Bilingual in English and French (oral and written)
- Knowledge of water-related environmental issues and policy
- Understanding of the Ottawa River watershed and regional context
- Experience working with media, community groups, or government
- Experience with basic graphic design or visual content creation (using Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or other software)
- Familiarity with web publishing tools (e.g. WordPress)

- You are a Canadian Citizen, a Permanent Resident or a Protected Person as defined by the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- You are registered or enrolled at a Canadian post-secondary education institution and are able to provide proof of full-time or part-time enrolment during placement
- You are legally entitled to work in Canada
