Job Title: Fund Development and Impact Specialist
Location: Edmonton, Alberta
Position Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000–$95,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

 

About ACWS

The Alberta Council of Women’s Shelters (ACWS) is a provincial network supporting 40+ member organizations and 60+ shelters for women, children, and seniors experiencing domestic violence. We strengthen safety, support families, and help build healthy communities across Alberta.

Position Summary

The Fund Development and Impact Specialist leads grant writing, donor stewardship, fundraising events, and impact communications. This role advances the financial sustainability of ACWS and enhances our public impact.

Key Responsibilities

Grant Writing & Management

•       Research grant opportunities and prepare proposals and LOIs

•       Track deadlines and reporting requirements

•       Monitor grant deliverables and compliance

Donor Development

•         Manage all stages of the donor cycle

•         Track donor data in CRM tools

•         Grow donor base and retention strategies

Fundraising & Events

•       Plan and execute fundraising events and campaigns

•       Manage logistics, sponsorships, and post-event analysis

Communications Support

•         Draft donor newsletters, acknowledgements, and impact updates

•         Assist with fundraising materials, sponsorship packages, and event promotions

Administration & Reporting

•       Maintain accurate donor and grant records

•       Prepare fundraising and impact reports

•       Assist with budgeting and forecasting

Qualifications

•         Education in communications, fundraising, nonprofit management, or related field (or equivalent experience)

•         Grant writing experience required

•         Experience in fundraising or donor relations

•         Strong writing, organizational, and project-management skills

•         Experience with CRM systems an asset

•         Ability to work independently and in a collaborative team

•         Valid Alberta driver’s licence

•         Experience in shelter or domestic violence work an asset
