Job Summary: 

The Calgary Program Coordinator will provide leadership to various programs and frontline staff in Calgary in alignment with the Vision, Mission, Core Values, and Statement of Faith of Hope Mission, and direction of the Calgary Program Manager.

The Calgary Program Coordinator will spend approximately 40% of their time leading and developing programs for the students and families in Calgary and Chestermere. 35% of their role will be committed to training, developing, and discipling the staff under their leadership. The remaining 25% of the role will be focused on building and maintaining connections with schools, churches and other organizations in Chestermere and Strathmore with the goal of growing our outreach programs in these areas.

  • Event Planning: Able to plan special events throughout the year.
  • Networking: Able to self start connections and new relationships in alignment with the Calgary
  • program manager.

 

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for serving, strengthening and uplifting the frontline staff team to run programs at
  • school sites.
  • Lead and supervise the frontline staff through daily tasks and programs
  • Ensure staff, volunteers, and clients are following Hope Mission’s health and safety policies
  • Communicates with children and parents about events and to debrief incidents
  • Provides training for new staff, interns, and volunteers in collaboration with the Program
  • Manager
  • Collaborates with the Program Manager to support the frontline staff team in their growth and
  • development as children’s ministry workers
  • Plans and supports with special events
  • Liaisons with school administration to ensure effective communication exists between Hope
  • Mission and partner schools
  • Maintains accurate statistics, documentation, and filing for programs (waivers, permission
  • forms, attendance tracking, incident reports, etc.)
  • Ensures incidents and disclosures are reported to the Program Manager
  • Submits monthly reports to Program Manager
  • Prepares and serves snacks and meals for children and youth
  • Orders supplies in coordination with the Program Manager
  • Network with local youth pastors and other youth-serving ministries
  • Create a volunteer recruitment, training, and development plan
  • Work in a variety of capacities at summer camp running in July and August
  • Other related tasks and duties as required

 

Minimum Qualifications & Skills:

  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills and experience
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience leading teams of staff and/or volunteers
  • Experience planning and facilitating youth programs
  • Conflict resolution and verbal de-escalation skills
  • Knowledge of resources and supports available for children, youth, and families
  • Degree in Youth Work, Child & Youth Care, or related education an asset
  • 2-3 years of experience working with children and youth
  • Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs, run and play active sports and games with youth
  • Class 5 Driver’s License
  • Standard First Aid certification not required but an asset

Other Requirements:

  • Being a non-denominational Christian Organization, we require our employees to be in agreement with and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Intervention Record Check
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
  • Adherence to Hope Mission’s Policies and Procedures.
