The Opportunity 

CCSAI is seeking an experienced and strategic Executive Director (ED) to lead the organization through an exciting period of growth and modernization. This is a chance to shape a mission-driven institution with students at its core, ensuring our programs, services, and partnerships evolve to meet emerging needs. 

 

The ED will guide organizational strategy, strengthen internal systems, support an engaged student leadership team, and champion initiatives that elevate the student experience. 

 

Role Summary 

As Executive Director, you will take a forward-looking, collaborative, and student-centered approach to leadership. You will partner closely with the President and Board of Directors, senior management, key stakeholders at the College and student leaders to drive strategic priorities, operational excellence, and meaningful change across the organization. 

 

Your Key Responsibilities 

 

Strategic Leadership 

  • Lead the development and execution of CCSAI’s mission, strategic plan, and organizational priorities. 

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Board, enabling effective governance and sound decision-making. 

  • Inspire, guide, and empower the senior management team and student leaders. 

 

Operational & Organizational Excellence 

  • Oversee operations to ensure efficiency, sustainability, and alignment with strategic goals. 

  • Lead the creation and evaluation of strategic and operational plans. 

  • Ensure strong financial oversight and compliance through collaboration with internal and external partners. 

  • Implement organizational structures and processes that enhance service delivery. 

  • Provide regular operational and financial updates to the Board. 

  • Coach and develop high-performing teams, supporting professional growth and accountability. 

  • Serve as co-chair on the Athletic and Wellness Centre Management Board.  

 

Human Resources Management  

  • Build a culture of performance, learning, and continuous improvement. 

  • Lead performance enablement through clear expectations, coaching, feedback, and accountability. 

  • Oversee training programs for managers and student leaders, ensuring accessibility and relevance. 

  • Ensure HR policies and procedures are current, communicated, and consistently followed. 

 

Change Management & Innovation 

  • Lead organizational change that responds to shifts within the education sector and evolving student needs. 

  • Champion innovation and modern approaches that enhance the student experience. 

  • Foster an adaptive, engaged, and learning-oriented culture. 

 

Stakeholder & Community Engagement 

  • Cultivate strong, trust-based relationships with staff, student leaders, community partners, and stakeholders. 

  • Serve as an authentic ambassador for CCSAI, representing our mission and impact. 

  • Communicate transparently and effectively to strengthen confidence in CCSAI’s direction. 

 

Governance & Compliance 

  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and policy requirements as it relates to CCSAI’s operational matters. 

  • Provide the Board with clear reports, recommendations, and strategic insights. 

 

 

 

 A Bit About You  

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Non-Profit Management, or a related field. 

  • 5+ years of progressive leadership experience within a student union, comparable non-profit organization, or post-secondary environment. 

  • Strong operational management skills, including budgeting, policy development, and financial oversight. 

  • Proven ability to lead teams through change with clarity, empathy, and vision. 

  • Experience working with boards, committees, and elected leaders. 

  • Skilled in strategic planning, organizational design, and policy implementation. 

  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution abilities. 

  • Committed to student-centered decision-making, equity, and continuous improvement. 

  • High integrity, sound judgment, and professionalism. 

  • Knowledge of equity issues, student advocacy, and/or the post-secondary landscape is an asset.
