ABOUT METRO THEATRE 

Metro Theatre is one of Vancouver’s longest-running community theatres,  producing a full season of plays, musicals, and special events each year. We are  dedicated to delivering quality live performances for audiences across the Lower  Mainland. 

POSITION: BOOKKEEPER (Part-Time/Contract) 

Metro Theatre is seeking a detail-oriented, proactive Bookkeeper to support the  financial operations of our busy venue. The ideal candidate is comfortable working  in an arts environment and brings both strong technical accounting skills and an  understanding of the unique financial needs of a theatre company. They must be  available to work on site, and some evenings and weekends if required. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

1. Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for all Metro Theatre  operations. 

2. Process invoices, payments, and deposits; manage accounts payable and  accounts receivable. 

3. Reconcile bank statements, credit cards, and petty cash accounts. 4. Manage applications and reporting for Gaming License and 50/50  calculations. 

5. Prepare regular financial reports for the General Manager and Board of  Directors. 

6. Assist with budgeting, cash flow tracking, and year-end preparation for  external accountants. 

7. Oversee payroll processing for staff, contractors, and show personnel. 8. Track production expenses, rentals, bar revenues, and other theatre-specific  financial activities. 

9. Support the integration of accounting data with the Spektrix ticketing  system. 

10. Ensure compliance with Metro Theatre policies, CRA requirements, and  general accounting standards.

QUALIFICATIONS 

1. Bookkeeping certificate, diploma, or equivalent experience. 

2. Strong working knowledge of standard accounting software, particularly  QuickBooks. 

3. Experience with theatre or live performance venue accounting is a significant  asset. 

4. Familiarity with Spektrix or other ticketing/CRM systems preferred. 5. Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills. 6. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and communicate clearly  with staff, volunteers, and board members. 

7. Interest in the performing arts and comfort working at a volunteer-driven  organization. 

COMPENSATION AND HOURS 

Part-time schedule approx. 24 hours per week. Compensation $32 per hour + 4%  holiday pay.
