Position Summary

The Vice President (VP), Philanthropy is a newly created, forward-looking role designed to provide strategic and operational leadership in growing UWW’s $3M fundraising portfolio. As a key member of the leadership team, the VP will expand and diversify the organization’s donor base through major gifts, corporate and foundation partnerships, and high-impact fundraising initiatives. This role is central to strengthening UWW’s long-term sustainability and advancing its mission through increased philanthropic investment.

Working closely with the CEO, senior leadership, and the board of directors, the VP will guide the development and execution of a comprehensive fund development strategy. This includes building and leading a high-performing team, cultivating transformative donor relationships, and supporting board members as they take on a more active role in fundraising. The VP will also ensure effective collaboration across departments so that funding priorities are clearly articulated, opportunities are maximized, and donor engagement efforts reflect organizational needs and priorities.

As the VP establishes a robust, data-informed fund development function, UWW anticipates meaningful growth in philanthropic revenue in the years ahead. The successful candidate will bring a disciplined, relationship-centered approach to fundraising, supported by strong analytical capabilities, sound financial management, and the ability to create systems that enhance efficiency and donor stewardship. Through new partnerships, deeper relationships, and enhanced organizational capacity, the VP will play a pivotal role in elevating UWW’s impact and reach.

Ideal Profile

The ideal candidate is a seasoned, mission-driven and entrepreneurial fundraising leader with significant experience advancing the philanthropic goals of nonprofit organizations, particularly within healthcare and social services. A strategic and relationship-centered professional, they bring a strong track record of securing major and transformative gifts from corporate partners, foundations and individual donors. They excel at developing and executing comprehensive fund development strategies such as fundraising campaigns that strengthen organizational impact and long-term sustainability.

An inspiring and inclusive leader, the successful candidate is adept at motivating, coaching, and managing diverse teams, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. They demonstrate sound judgment, a hands-on approach, and the ability to work effectively across functions to support shared goals. Skilled in donor cultivation, stewardship, and pipeline development, they build and sustain meaningful relationships that advance philanthropic commitments.

Analytical and data-informed, they leverage CRM systems such as Raiser’s Edge, Salesforce, or comparable platforms to guide strategy, assess progress, and support decision-making. They thrive in dynamic environments and bring both the initiative and collaborative mindset required to move opportunities forward.

While formal academic credentials are valued, the organization also recognizes the importance of lived experience, non-academic pathways, and a diversity of perspectives that contribute to strong leadership. The ability to communicate in both official languages will be considered an asset.
