Position Summary: The Canadian Mental Health Association, Simcoe County Branch seeks aCommunity Support Worker (CSW), who is responsible for providing housing support and case management within a community-based setting, utilizing a harm reduction approach. They will be responsible for assisting individuals to search and secure maintainable housing; and collaborating with clients to help them achieve their goals and navigate social systems. Regional travel required.

What You'll Do:

Client Intake and Assessment

  • Assist in selecting clients for housing and support services, conduct SPDAT assessments, and provide brief services to walk-in clients. Perform regular assessments using input from clients, supports, and referral sources.

Direct Client Support

  • Deliver individual, group, and family counselling for substance and/or gambling misuse. Provide life skills teaching, housing support, crisis intervention and goal-oriented counselling to promote client stability and recovery.

Client Advocacy and Community Engagement

  • Advocate for client access to housing, treatment, and support services. Liaise with referring agencies to coordinate care and deliver educational programs to the broader community. Advocate with landlords for the rights to safe affordable housing

Outreach and Satellite Services

  • Deliver services in satellite office locations, including basic office maintenance tasks such as managing equipment, reception, and phone systems.

Transportation and Accessibility

  • Transport clients within and occasionally outside the local area to ensure access to essential services and supports.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum five (5) years education and experience in the human services field.
  • Must be/have one of the following:
  • Human Service Worker
  • Social Service Worker
  • Addictions Diploma or,
  • A University degree in a human-services related field, preferably Social Work.
  • Experience or knowledge in housing and community supports.
  • Fluency in French or another second language would be an asset.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • Experience in mental health and/or addictions (community-based setting preferred).
  • Must have access to a vehicle, a valid Ontario driver’s license, and adequate automobile insurance.

SALARY SCALE:

CSW Level 1: $49,413 - $55,146 *per annum

*pro-rated based on hours worked

HOURS OF WORK:

  • Thirty-five (35) hours per week.
  • Able to work within a flexible framework to respond to client needs.
