Job Title: Primary Care Paramedic

Based at: Edmonton, AB

Reports to: Senior Manager, Health Services

Hours of work: 4 days on, 4 days off. 2 rotations of days, 2 rotations of nights on an A, B, C, D platoon schedule. 0500-1700 or 1700-0500.

Role Objective: To provide immediate emergency response and rapid assessment for clients within and immediately surrounding the shelter setting.

Required Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited PCP program. 
  • Current licensure with Alberta regulatory body (ACP or equivalent)
  • Current individual professional liability insurance (as per ACP license)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Sign and adhere to the Hope Mission Statement of Faith

Key Responsibilities:

  • • Attend and respond to medical emergencies within the shelter and surrounding property.
    • Respond to high-acuity or emergent wellness checks in coordination with nursing staff.
    • Provide high-quality care within your full scope of practice, following AHS or Hope Mission established protocols.
    • Make timely transport decisions (within 15 minutes of patient contact) and coordinate with emergency agencies.
    • Deliver trauma-informed de-escalation and provide emotional and spiritual support during crises.
    • Complete documentation, including charting, referrals, and scanning/uploading records.
    • Maintain emergency supply readiness, restock kits, and ensure secure clinical spaces.
    • Contribute to staff education (e.g., Naloxone training), policy/procedure development, and spiritual care activities.
    • Provide feedback on emergency response policies and engage in quality improvement initiatives.
    • Collaborate with the recovery coach to assist in referrals for frequent clients.
    • Uphold and live out the Statement of Faith

Performance Expectations:

Annual reviews will focus on timeliness and quality of emergency care, collaboration with other staff, safety practices, accurate documentation, and participation in team development.

Other Requirements:

  • Being a Christian Organization we require our employees to be in agreement and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada on a full-time basis.
  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check with a Vulnerable Sector Search and a Child Intervention Record Check
  • A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
  • Adherence to Hope Mission’s policies and procedures
