Are you a hands-on leader who thrives at the intersection of compassionate care and effective operations? Freedom Quest Youth Services is seeking a dedicated Residence Coordinator to ensure our residential homes run smoothly while keeping youth needs at the center of everything we do.

As Residence Coordinator, you'll lead the daily operations and support the frontline staff who create healing environments for youth who may have experienced neglect, abuse, or other significant adversities.

Your Role at a Glance

As Residence Coordinator, you'll ensure exceptional care delivery while managing the day-to-day operations that make it possible:

Team Leadership & Development

  • Hire, orient, and train residential youth workers and night staff
  • Provide monthly formal supervision that supports staff growth
  • Lead engaging staff meetings 2-3 times per month
  • Conduct annual performance evaluations
  • Identify professional development needs and training opportunities
  • Foster a healthy, collaborative workplace culture

Day-to-Day Operations

  • Create staff schedules that meet contract obligations and youth needs
  • Ensure home cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met
  • Manage inventory and supplies
  • Oversee required documentation (daily logs, monthly reports, medication logs)
  • Implement and evaluate procedures to ensure smooth operations
  • Monitor and allocate expenditures within budget guidelines

Quality Assurance & Compliance

  • Champion CARF accreditation standards
  • Ensure all documentation meets agency and regulatory requirements
  • Implement agency policies and identify needed improvements
  • Complete and submit payroll timecards bi-weekly
  • Maintain accurate records and reporting

Youth-Centered Coordination

  • Ensure service plans, care plans, and transition plans guide daily practice
  • Assess needs for supplemental supports (additional staffing, specialized services)
  • Build relationships with community partners (schools, healthcare, MCFD, counselors)
  • Support staff in delivering trauma-informed, attachment-based care
  • Problem-solve challenges while keeping youth needs front and center

Hands-On Support

  • Provide emergency on-call support (shared rotation with 3 other staff)
  • Step in to backfill positions when needed
  • Maintain regular check-ins and supervision meetings with Residence Manager
  • Stay connected to the realities of frontline residential care

What You Bring

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: Diploma or degree (minimum 2 years) in Child & Youth Care, Social Work, or related field
  • Experience: 3 years of recent related experience, including 1 year in supervisory or administrative role
  • Specialized Training: Behavioral modification, working with children under 12 with support needs, attachment-based parenting, trauma-informed practice
  • Current Certifications: First Aid, CPR, FoodSafe, Valid Class V BC Driver's License
  • Clearances: MCFD Record Check (including Vulnerable Sector Criminal Record Check), satisfactory Driver's Abstract and Driver Factor Report
  • Transportation: Reliable vehicle

Preferred Experience:

  • 2+ years working in a residential setting
  • Extensive experience with client-centered, strengths-based, harm-reduction, trauma-informed approaches
  • ASIST certification
