Ottawa Riverkeeper is seeking a Communications Assistant to join our enthusiastic and engaged team. 

• Start Date: April 20, 2026   End Date: June 12, 2026
• Hourly Wage: $21.25/hr
• Hours: 37.5 hrs/week 
• Applicants are encouraged to apply, where possible, before February 6th as interviews will begin February 9th onwards.

What you will do

As Communications Assistant, you will help craft messages and communications strategies to reach our entire audience throughout the Ottawa River watershed, inspiring love and protection of our freshwater ecosystems. This may include:

• Reviewing communications, social media analytics, and other feedback to determine successful strategies
• Drafting new communications for newsletters, website, blogs, and social media
• Curating and developing new visuals to use for impactful campaigns. 
• Assisting with web development and creating new content for our website. 
• Providing in-person support at Ottawa Riverkeeper events.
• As a key team member during our busiest season, this role may involve working on various summer projects including outreach and events

What you bring

You are energetic and passionate about the environment and have a desire to protect it! For further success in the role, you also have:

• A familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok)
• A solid understanding of social media and website analytics
• Experience with social media scheduling tools
• Excellent writing skills

Other valued skills:

• Bilingual in English and French (oral and written)
• Experience in web design (WordPress, WIX)
