Established in 1983 and always ready for hands-on fun, the Manitoba Children’s Museum is a trusted non-profit charitable organization that exists to spark kids’ creative learning through play-based experiences. With 12 permanent galleries, the Museum is a place where young minds explore, learn, and grow through interactive exhibits and programming that ignite a lifelong love of learning.

The Opportunity

Reporting directly to the Executive Director (ED), the Manager of Education and Programming will create and sustain the vision for the museum’s educational programming, leading educational experiences across the entire museum from the gallery to camps, school programs, and special events. This leadership role offers a rare opportunity to make a tangible, lasting impact on early childhood development (K–3) by shaping how children experience learning through curiosity, confidence, and joy. Key Responsibilities

• Design, plan, and oversee educational programs, including school field trips, day camps, variety days, workshops, special events and seasonal programming, including our long-running Halloween Howls.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with teachers, schools, and community and Indigenous partners to support field trips, outreach, and culturally inclusive, curriculum-connected learning.
• Ensure programs are hands-on, experiential, developmentally appropriate, and aligned with curriculum and early-years learning principles.

• Provide leadership and mentorship to the education team (Education Coordinator, Program Interpreters, seasonal camp staff, and volunteers), fostering a collaborative, outcomes-focused culture.
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and evaluate staff to deliver a consistently welcoming, high-quality guest experience.

• Develop annual plans, monitor program quality through evaluation and feedback, and make continuous improvements.
• Contribute to budgeting, earned-revenue programming, and museum-wide goals in collaboration with other departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Recreation Management, Museum Studies, or a related field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).

• 3+ years of experience in children’s or family program planning, development, and delivery, including curriculum development, project coordination, budgeting, and volunteer engagement.
• 3+ years of experience applying child development and play-based learning principles.
• 3+ years of experience supervising staff.

• Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for special events, and to successfully complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) and Child Abuse Registry Check.
