Status : Full-time, 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri

Job Summary: 

The Operations Manager position will be responsible for overseeing the Hope Mission Shelter and Hope Mission Rescue Van operations in Red Deer. The position reports to the Regional Manager, Central Alberta Zone. 

 

The overarching focus of this key leadership position should be as follows:

  1. Ensure that the mission and vision statement of Hope Mission are lived out in the daily activities, programming and services that Hope Mission offers to vulnerable people.
  2. Serve as the on-site operational lead for both internal and external engagements: including providing operational guidance and insight to staff, stakeholders and the community at large.
  3. trive for excellence in program service quality, efficiency and use of resources. Continue to develop professional level services that are agile and flexible to meet the changing needs in the community.
  4. Identify and develop leaders and staff competency. Ensure that staff are empowered and encouraged to grow, learn and bring forward innovative ideas that would improve services.   

Major Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee Hope Mission emergency care and services across the city of Red Deer.
  • In collaboration with other Hope Mission Homelessness Programs, develop shelter operation processes that incorporate recovery-oriented systems of care and a housing-focused approach at all Red Deer Hope Mission shelter sites.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and continuous review of policies and SOPs for all facets of shelter operations in collaboration with other members of Shelters leadership.
  • Regularly review Shelter operations to determine gaps, needs and areas of improvement: allocate resources within purview to support operational needs as necessary
  • In collaboration with other members of Hope Mission management, design/develop and propose the operational framework(s) for Hope Mission shelter projects (current and future). This would include forecasting needs, resource-planning and project management.
  • Oversee the utilization of a data-driven approach in program management, particularly in determining and allocating needs-appropriate resource and supports for shelter guests.
  • Oversee general shelter operations: staffing needs/levels, program quality & efficiency, internal and external communication, relationships with stakeholders (e.g., government, other agencies, internal departmental relations, etc.).
  • Provide regular updates on operations to Regional Manager and Director as requested/needed
  • Strive for excellence in program service and outcomes, striving to ensure that guest/client experience is emphasized regularly
  • Ensure all programs continue to adhere to Hope Mission’s mission and vision statements, especially Hope Mission’s identity as a Christian organization
  • Ensure staff are supported, trained and equipped to perform their duties  
  • Identify, develop and empower leaders within Shelters, including regular connections to foster strong communication, rapport and development
  • Ensure programs are well-functioning from an administrative perspective.  Utilize the administrative team available
  • Any other duties as identified by the Regional Manager of Central Alberta Zone.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • Clean criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check and child welfare check is required
  • High level of awareness and compassion for culturally marginalized and underprivileged people
  • Excellent communication and inter-personal skills
  • Front-line experience in a related field of work is an asset
  • Experience managing a team at a high level of seniority
  • Ideally a minimum of 5 years experience in a related field

  • Being a non-denominational Christian Organization, we require our employees to be in agreement with and sign the Hope Mission Statement of Faith.

  • Able to provide Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
