We are seeking Indigenous Cultural Connectors to join our Children Service programs.
About the Role
The Indigenous Cultural Connector supports Indigenous children, youth, and families in strengthening and maintaining connections to their culture, community, and identity. This role works collaboratively with families, program staff, and Indigenous communities to support culturally respectful, strength-based services across Children’s Services programs.
Position Type & Hours
• Permanent Full-Time Role: 40 hours per week. Shifts may include evenings starting at 4:00 p.m. and weekends.
• Relief: Various hours based on program needs, including evenings starting at 4:00 p.m. and weekends.
What you’ll do:
Reporting to the Program Manager, the Indigenous Cultural Connector supports culturally grounded services for Indigenous children, youth, and families.
Key areas of responsibility will include:
• Acting as a cultural bridge between Indigenous children, youth, families, community, and McMan programs, supporting identity, belonging, and cultural continuity
• Supporting children, youth, and families to connect with their culture, community, family, ancestors, and Nation, in ways that are meaningful to them
• Supporting the development and use of cultural plans for children, youth, and families, where applicable
• Facilitating and coordinating cultural teachings, ceremonies, land-based activities, and learning opportunities that support holistic wellness
• Building and maintaining working relationships with Indigenous Nations, Elders, Knowledge Keepers, and community partners
• Collaborating with program teams to embed cultural perspectives into care planning, daily practice, and engagement with youth
• Supporting staff by sharing cultural knowledge and strengthening culturally informed practice across Children Services programs
• Contributing to program planning and evaluation by tracking outcomes and identifying opportunities to strengthen cultural connections.
• Collecting and sharing information required for program, legislative, and funding requirements
• Participate in program meetings and align practice with agency values, policies, and standards
What you bring:
• A diploma or degree in Social Work, Indigenous Studies, or a related field OR a combination of education, cultural knowledge, skills, and lived experience
• At least two (2) years of experience working with children, youth, and families
• Knowledge of Indigenous community resources and ability to connect children, youth, and families to supports
• Strong relationship-building skills with children, youth, families, staff, and community members
• Respectful understanding of Indigenous cultures, teachings, and ways of living
• Ability to work independently, stay organized, and manage time well
• Self-motivated, creative, and comfortable taking initiative
• Experience supporting children, youth, and families with complex needs or challenging behaviour
• Ability to work well with staff and support cultural learning and engagement
• Clear communication and strong people skills
• Basic computer skills (Outlook, Word, Excel)
• Valid Class 5 driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle, and ability to transport children, youth, and families to Nations, ceremonies, and community activities when required

The salary for this position is $27.90–$31.40 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience. McMan offers an environment supportive of ongoing professional development.
