Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:00AM to 4:00PM), on-call

Job Summary
To provide holistic, trauma-informed, and evidence-based care to clients through direct clinical services, coordination with health and social resources, and leadership within the recovery program. Nurses address physical, mental, social, and spiritual health needs with the aim of improving overall client wellness.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric and holistic nursing assessments; develop care plans tailored to clients with complex mental health and substance use disorders.
- Facilitate and follow up on medical referrals, prescription support, mobility aids, and health benefit applications.
- Administer Sublocade injections and provide specialized monitoring and support for clients on Opioid Agonist Therapy (OAT), such as methadone or Suboxone.
- Facilitate medical referrals, coordinate prescription support, and assist clients in navigating health benefits and community mental health resources.
- Provide immediate mental health triage and de-escalation; participate in emergency responses and provide clinical follow-up for behavioral or medical incidents.
- Maintain precise clinical charting, nursing statistics, and referral records in compliance with CRPNA standards.
- Collaborate with staff and external agencies to ensure cohesive care, including attending shelter team meetings and supporting client transitions (e.g., BLOC discharges).
- Contribute to the organization of the clinic, including inventory, supply restocking, and locking of clinical cabinets.
- Provide education to staff and clients on medication, nutrition, hygiene, chronic disease, and mental health.
- Maintain current registration and engage in professional development, contributing to quality improvement efforts and health education resources.
Minimum Qualifications and Skills:
- Completion of approved and relevant Nursing program (for example, RN requires BScN or equivalent)
- Current licensure with the appropriate regulatory body (CARNA, CLPNA, CRPNA)
- Current individual professional liability insurance
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Criminal record check, including vulnerable sector check and child welfare check is required
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset but is provided if needed
- Strong administrative and organizational skills
- Strong capacity for independence, self-motivation, leadership, and the ability to proactively take initiative in their work
- Ability to remain flexible, open to change, and responsive to shifting clinical and program needs
- Experience working with addiction, homeless or vulnerable populations is an asset
- High level of care and compassion for culturally marginalized and underprivileged people
- Excellent communication and inter-personal skills

- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle. The role requires travel between two primary work sites.

- A letter of reference from a ministry or church is an asset
